“Cloud Atlas” explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.
In many ways this film looks like it could be interesting, and it is from the creators of The Matrix which I greatly enjoyed. It looks like it has some very interesting elements. The trailer was very long, and at first it was a bit off-putting. But after it got going I found myself intrigued. It is interesting that, as confusing and convoluted as the trailer is, it still manages to pull on the heart strings a little.
Yet at the same time, this looks like it could also be very “new age” in it’s philosophy and thinking. Additionally, even when the Wachowski brothers (I refuse to acknowledge sex change operations) were making The Matrix, they were pretty messed up on a personal level. From what I can tell that trend has accelerated. I may wait and see what people are saying about this film before seeing it in theaters.
As I’ve seen others around the internet say, this film is either going to be really good or really bad.
