As we know, a longer version of “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” is coming this year — known as the “Rogue Cut” — which will reportedly feature at least ten minutes of new footage, including more of, you guessed it, Anna Paquin‘s mutant in scenes excised from the theatrical release. Sometimes, Netflix drops in big, giant, rock-sized diamonds for us movie maniacs to gobble up the second they come out. Such is the case when Netflix announced they were dropping The Hunger Games: Catching Fire towards the end of October in anticipation of the next movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, coming out in November. Even with home video sales continuing on a downward trajectory, Hollywood seems bound and determined to follow the same playbook they have used since the early ‘80s introduction of the VCR. So even though “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” will be available digitally on September 23rd and on Blu-ray on October 14th, Fox has just announced that you’re better off not bothering with either if you want the extra bells and whistles.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was a fantastic film and if any film deserves a director’s cut, it’s probably this one. We’ve heard a lot about how much material had to be cut because there just wasn’t time for it. Particularly, there was a sub-plot where Rogue (Anna Paquin) stepped in to help Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) when she got injured.

The official line for cutting that portion from the film is that it reduced the tension and urgency of the time crunch from Kitty’s injury. That does make sense, and normally I’m strictly a theatrical cut kind of guy with very few exceptions, but I’d like to…

Season 6 is arguably the best season of TNG. The writers that we associate with TNG’s better episodes were all present, the production staff had TNG down cold, the visual effects were at their peak technologically, and the episodes covered a diverse group of subjects and genres.  Read on to see how the season looks re-mastered and details of  the treasure trove of deleted scenes the CBS Digital team were able to find, available June 24th in North America.

It’s hard to call Season 6 the best season of TNG, but it had a lot of good episodes, and we got to see James Doohan reprise his role as Scotty so definitely call that a win! This season also included great episodes like:

• Birthright, Part 1 and Part 2

It’s great to see a great show getting remasterd in glorious HD and I look forward to watching these in HD somehow, even though it would be cost prohibitive for me to buy the entire series — again.

For a generation of fans, Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy, and they’ve loved him from the first time he appeared onscreen in the iconic Pride & Prejudice miniseries nearly 20 years ago. And now that beloved version, also starring Jennifer Ehle, is coming to Blu-ray in a special “Keepsake Edition.”

I am not (too) ashamed to admit that I love this mini-series a lot and it’s great to see it getting the Blu-ray treatment. I have no doubt that my wife will demand the purchase of this for our home, and I will gladly oblige.
