Fascinated and confused by that six-minute trailer for Cloud Atlas that hit the internet in late July? Well, there’s a new theatrical trailer for the Wachowski/Wachowski/Tykwer head-trip odyssey that strives to package the movie’s narrative flourishes — multiple timelines, lofty themes, Tom Hanks completely breaking the bank on his wig budget — into a relatively more manageable two and a half minutes. The trailer on Entertainment Weekly was pulled from YouTube due to copyright infringement claim (what else is new?). Fortunately it is on Apple Trailers site and I have embedded it below.
I’m still not quite sure what we are dealing with here, some form of reincarnation, or something more akin to The Matrix where people live multiple lives digitally, I’m just not sure. The Wachowskis certainly showed their tendency toward strange new age and mysticism type stuff in the second two Matrix films… We’ll see what happens.
