‘The Frozen Ground’ Clip

‘The Frozen Ground’ Clip

Following up on my posting about the upcoming film staring Vanessa Hudgens and Nicholas Cage, I have here a clip from the film. It certainly… chilling… to say the least.

As I’ve said before, despite the fact that I’m no fan of Hudgens, there could be some substance to this film. There could be a real story here to tell. It is, as far as I understand, based on a true story of an Alaskan State Trooper name Jack Halcombe on a quest to finally lock up a serial killer named Robert Hansen who stacked up his body count for 13 years. Hudgens plays a victim only 17 years old who managed to escape and…

Get Your Guns Ready - What to see This Weekend!

Well, you can either get your guns (2 of them to be exact) or you can turn blue this weekend. I know which one I would rather do…

New This Weekend

2 Guns — R

This film looks infinitely better than other new option(s) this weekend, and in fact doesn’t look like all that bad of a film to me. But we’ll see. It is rated R (what would you expect, it’s Denzel Washington!), but I don’t generally let that bother me too much depending on why it’s rated R.

For the past year, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Denzel Washington) and U.S. Navy intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Mark Wahlberg) have been…

Nikki Finke - Deadline

I’ve just learned that momentum is building for a Pacific Rim sequel based on the international box office for the Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros summer tentpole. The latest development is the 3D sci-fi actioner’s Wednesday opening in China to a record-breaking $9M from an estimated 5,700 digital 3D screens, 117 digital 3D IMAX screens, and 22 China Giant Screen sites. That’s a new high for any Warner Bros release and 23% bigger than for any Harry Potter film including 3D Harry Potter 7BPacific Rim grossed a huge 70% of the Top Five market share there. This is after the pic broke through…

NBCUniversal chief Steve Burke made his observations this morning in Comcast‘s Q2 conference call with analysts as he discussed his company’s approach to films following its new production and finance partnership with Legendary Entertainment. Burke noted that NBCU is delighted with its animation alliance with Illumination. The partners’ Despicable Me 2 will become “the single most profitable film in the 100 year history of Universal Studios.”

That’s just sad. What is the world coming to?

‘The Hobbit’ Deleted Scene - Extended Edition Blu-ray

‘The Hobbit’ Deleted Scene - Extended Edition Blu-ray

Man, I’m telling you, we saw the extended edition already, that was the one in the theater. I’m not sure what else there is to put on the Blu-ray to make it extended. But apparently Peter Jackson kept some stuff in reserve. I think the guy should get someone to help him actually edit stuff out next time, but anyway…

Warner Bros. is saying that there will be 13 more minutes of film on this upcoming Blu-ray release, and NINE HOURSE OF BONUS FEATURES. Holy cow! You Tolkien nerds and The Hobbit fans should be pleased.

So here’s just an appetite wheter:

‘Elysium’ Extended Trailer

‘Elysium’ Extended Trailer

August 9 is fast approaching so the studio is kicking things into high gear. This is the extended trailer for Elysium and man it seems to delve close to the spoilers in my opinion.

I still have my questions about this film, but I have to admit this trailer does look pretty awesome. And Matt Damon is generally pretty good so there’s certainly hope for this film. Check it out.

‘Sharknado’ Coming to Theaters

‘Sharknado’ Coming to Theaters
Margaret Lyons - Vulture

Not that many people actually watched Internet touchstone Sharknado, even from the presumable comforts of their own homes, but Regal Cinemas is hoping a tsunami of irony will carry people to its theaters for a midnight screening of the Syfy movie on Friday, August 2. If you thought those “special” effects looked crummy on your television, just imagine how they’ll look on a movie screen! (Like they were made in Claris Works? Just guessing.)

I think I just threw up…

‘Super Cafe: Versus’

‘Super Cafe: Versus’

NAILED IT!

The guys over at HISHE have something to say about the upcoming Batman/Superman film. I’m telling you, I love these guys, they have so much fun and make such cool stuff.

I’m voting for the title, Man of Steel, The Punch from Space that Exploded Batman’s Internal Organs! But that’s just me.
