Three Clips from ‘Captain Phillips’

Three Clips from ‘Captain Phillips’

Like the clip from Thor: The Dark World, what we see here are extended sequences from the trailer, although the last clip really shows us events leading up to what we see in the trailer(s).

Of all the films I’m looking forward to seeing this year (and yes, because of travel, Gravity is still one of those films), this one is one of the most prominent in my mind right now. It’s coming out this weekend and I couldn’t possibly be more excited for a film. The more and more films I watch for MovieByte the harder that is to do I guess, so that’s something, right?

We’ll get to see if it lives up to…

New Clip: Thor Does Not Trust Loki

New Clip: Thor Does Not Trust Loki

This is an extended version of what we’ve been seeing in the trailers. It’s not much, but if you’re like me, you will eagerly eat up anything from an upcoming film that you are greatly anticipating. I really like where this is going and I continue to predict that Loki will see some amount of redemption from his evil ways and will then be killed.

Still, despite any redemption that may come, I don’t think I’ll cry too much when the guy who almost completely destroyed New York, and is responsible for the deaths of untold numbers of people, comes to meet his end…

Thor: The Dark World comes to…

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Trailer

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Trailer

Remember how Jack Ryan is a CIA analyst who sometimes accidentally gets thrust into action-y situations? Yeah, well, throw that concept away and put it out of your mind. In this version, it looks like Jack Ryan is being turned into some sort of secret agent. Also, the modest action that Jack Ryan gets into, where the plot and external influences provide the action and the drama… yeah… kiss that good bye as well. It looks like we’re turning Jack Ryan into a full blown action star. I was afraid of this. Looks like I am not going to enjoy this all that much.

Sigh.

First TV Spot for Steve McQueen’s ‘12 Years a Slave’

First TV Spot for Steve McQueen’s ‘12 Years a Slave’

The films about America’s dark period of slavery seem to be making the rounds these days, but this one does look like it has the potential to be good. There’s no denying that slavery happened and it was evil. And many of these stories can be compelling.

Here’s the synopsis:

Based on an incredible true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as…

New Trailers for ‘Captain Phillips’

New Trailers for ‘Captain Phillips’

As we begin to see light at the end of the deep, dark tunnel of the end of summer, one of the films I’m looking forward to most in the immediate future is Captain Phillips. It sure looks like a breathtakingly good true story drama. And, you know, TOM HANKS LOOKS FANTASTIC. It looks like the type of film that has just the right mixture of drama, action, and suspense to make a great thriller. Count me in.

The film comes to theaters in just 9 days, on October 11th.

‘The Desolation of Smaug’ Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch’s Voice!

‘The Desolation of Smaug’ Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch’s Voice!

It may be heavy on the effects, but Benedict Cumberbatch’s voice as Smaug is absolutely perfect! And, in spite of my irritations with the first installment to The Hobbit trilogy, I can’t help but be excited for this.

Of course the whole indication of the love interest for Legolas in the person/elf named Tauriel (remember, she’s the addition to the cast by Peter Jackson and is not in the books — because we needed MORE CHARACTERS in this series!!!1!!!1!) is a bit odd — even irritating, but that’s par for the course with Peter Jackson I think (certainly it is these days). But, as I said, I am…

‘Thor: The Dark World’ TV Spot

‘Thor: The Dark World’ TV Spot

This spot was apparently shown during the premiere of Agents of SHIELD which makes sense. But I didn’t get to see it since I don’t do cable and didn’t watch the premiere on premiere night. No worries though, because that’s what the internet is for, to let me get caught up on and watch stuff like this. There’s good stuff here that we haven’t seen yet and I’m super excited for this upcoming film. We’ll get to see it on November 8th!

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Episode 2 Trailer

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Episode 2 Trailer

So, speaking of SHIELD, here is the trailer for the second episode, which, of course, looks awesome. Note also that annoucer voice guy says that we don’t want to miss the very end of every episode. I wonder what that means exactly and if something is in store for us that the end of every episode will put the pieces together for. We’ll find out soon enough. Also, I’m hoping for a cameo from an Avenger or two before the season is over, but we’ll see.

‘Ender’s Game’ TV Spot — Glimpse More of Formic Invasion

‘Ender’s Game’ TV Spot — Glimpse More of Formic Invasion

This TV spot gives us a bit more look at the Formic invasion as well as glimpses at several other scenes we have not yet seen. And this music for this trailer definitely has a bit of dystopian sci-fi feel to it.

This is looking pretty good and I’m really looking forward to seeing it. It comes out in theaters on November 1st.

‘Toy Story of Terror’ Commerical

‘Toy Story of Terror’ Commerical

And so it begins…

This marks Pixar’s first foray into TV specials. I suppose it was inevitable. Despite the fact that I’m not a big fan of Halloween, I suppose I like this. It looks like it will be sufficiently goofy.

Have a look:
