If you’ve been following MovieByte and my work for any length of time, you’ll know that I’m a fan of actual film. I’m not crazy about it and I think digital can be just fine. But I also think that actual film is a great thing. This new documentary explores the revival theaters that use real 35mm projection and run older (not first run) films. It seems to be particularly focused on the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles and features some familiar folks such as Kevin Smith, Rian Johnson, Seth Green, Edgar Wright, and more.
There are many ways in which I like the digital age we live in, but sometimes it does feel like we’re throwing something really good away for something not quite as good. I can’t find a release date anywhere but I would like to see this documentary. Check out the trailer.
