Let me get the bad news out of the way: There is no U.S. release date right now for this film. It’s going to premier at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival on September 24th. But I can tell you this, I want to see this film when it becomes available. It looks really good.
It stars a couple people that you “might” recognize such as Rooney Mara and Martin Sheen. But our primary protagonists are some boys from Brazil who have never been on camera before, Rickson Teves, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein.
From what I can tell, the film appears to be a wonderful drama based on a novel by Andy Mulligan. The story follows the adventure of two boys living in the slums who happen across a wallet. This wallet is full of cash and there’s a reward out for its return. These two boys team up with a friend to find out what makes the wallet so doggone important. But they don’t trust the police and are forced to turn a pair of missionary to help them out.
