‘Planes’ Teaser Trailer

‘Planes’ Teaser Trailer

Alright. Okay. Here it is. This is a thing or whatever.

Seriously, I don’t know what to make of this. Apparently Planes has been upgraded from “direct to DVD” to a theatrical release. Given how well Disney did with Wreck-it Ralph, I have a slightly more elevated hope that this will be good…

Alright, no, I think it’s going to be terrible.

Billion Dollar Super Heroes

Billion Dollar Super Heroes

A fan emailed this in to me and I thought it was pretty good fun. Could you be one of the super-heroes if you had a billion dollars? Let this info-graphic break down the costs for you. This stuff is a bit pricey! Unfortunately, I’ll have to stick to writing about super heroes rather than being one at these prices.

Time Warner Cable: “No Demand for Gigabit Internet”

Time Warner Cable: “No Demand for Gigabit Internet”
The Verge

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, Time Warner Cable’s Chief Financial Officer Irene Esteves seemed dismissive of the impact Google Fiber is having on consumers. “We’re in the business of delivering what consumers want, and to stay a little ahead of what we think they will want,” she said when asked about the breakneck internet speeds delivered by Google’s young Kansas City network. “We just don’t see the need of delivering that to consumers.” Esteves seems to think business customers are more likely to need that level of throughput, and notes that Time Warner Cable is…

‘Eden’ - Sex Slavery Drama

‘Eden’ - Sex Slavery Drama

I’ve been trying to figure out whether to post this or not. Sex trafficking is a big deal and needs to be dealt with and stopped. I’m behind that. But I’m not convinced a dramatic re-telling based on this true life story it is quite the right thing. Maybe a documentary would be more appropriate. On the other hand, I have no qualms with dramatic retellings of other horrendous things, and even think it a good thing (see my review of Downfall).

Perhaps I am balking at what I think may be the further exploitation of sex and young girls for the profit of the entertainment industry, under the…

First Person Light Saber Battle

First Person Light Saber Battle

This may be sort of hokey and cheesy, but I’m just enough of a geek to love it.

This is a short film featuring a first person perspective from first Darth Vader, then the Jedi he is fighting. According to the credits on YouTube, it stars Gary Ripper as Darth Vader, and Eric Jacobus as the Jedi.

‘Man of Steel’ Is Action Packed

‘Man of Steel’ Is Action Packed
JoBlo.com

A scooper (whom we know and trust 100%) has sent us reactions to early screenings of the film happening at WB, addressing many of the common concerns that we’ve all had from the beginning.  Here’s his bullet points from the screening(s):

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.

- It’s the best movie of the year.

- There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.

- The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.

- They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.

- It’s not nearly as dour and…

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ New TV Spot

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ New TV Spot

Getting geared up for this one! But even if you aren’t looking forward to this film, you gotta watch this spot for Morgan Freeman’s voice, right? I’d like to get him to narrate my life:

“As TJ sat poking around the internet for interesting film and TV news and videos, he came across a trailer for my upcoming film, Olympus has Fallen. Needless to say, he was mesmerized by my deep baritone voice.”

Well, I guess that would be pretty boring. Here’s the spot:

Everything at The Oscars was “Amazing”

Everything at The Oscars was “Amazing”

Can someone please send us some more adjectives? Because we need them.

Have you ever said or heard a word so much that it just loses all meaning and sounds weird? Well, that’s apparently what happened to the word amazing at the Oscars. There is apparently no other way to describe these events and hairdos.

I feel sorry for whatever editor had to sit through all that footage and put this together but it is… ama… I mean… awesome!

‘Minority Report’ UI Analysis

‘Minority Report’ UI Analysis

As much as I love Minority Report, even I have to admit some of the technology depiction is a bit ridiculous. Seriously, who wants to stand in front of a screen all day waving their arms and hands in tiring gestures, holding them up all day and using strange movements to get the computer to do what you want. And remember when John Anderton (Tom Cruise) went to shake someone’s hand and his files he was working with went flying across the screen with his hand movements? It’s just nuts and completely impractical.

This is a great little video pointing out the technology and UI (User…

‘The Empire Strikes Back’ Documentary

‘The Empire Strikes Back’ Documentary

Oh wow! I’m geeking out right now. I wish I had more time this morning, I would watch this whole thing. I’ve only made it 6:00 minutes in and I need to move on and get some other things posted this morning so I can get to other work, but I knew pretty quickly this is something you all would be interested in. I mean really, if you don’t have time to watch this right now, do what I’m doing and come back to it later tonight or something when you have time!
