They Want a Sequel

They Want a Sequel

Join Chad and TJ to talk about concepts for an Apple TV refresh, Acapella Mario and other late ‘80s/early ‘90s games, Andy Serkis directing the Warner Bros. version of ‘The Jungle Book’, thoughts on Pixar, ‘Newt’, ‘Cars 3’, ‘The Incredibles 2’ and more, Brian Tyler scoring ‘The Avengers 2’ instead of Alan Silvestri, and lots of other fun stuff. Plus, don’t miss TWO film reviews this week: ‘3 Days to Kill’, which TJ found to be passable but Chad pretty much as an active dislike for, and ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ which both agree is a great film. TJ may have enjoyed it a bit more however.

Who says the next Apple TV will be a screen?

Together with the German tech-log www.curved.de I worked out an upgrade to the current Apple TV, the box that is.

These sorts of things are fun, but I can’t see Apple really doing much of it. We’ll almost certainly see a new Apple TV this year (or maybe next depending on how overwhelmed Apple’s hardware team are feeling this year), but I expect it to be a more conservative update.

But let’s take a look at some of the pictures in the linked article (be sure to visit the link for all the images), and I’ll talk about some of my thoughts regarding…

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer 2

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer 2

Bryan Singer made the two best X-Men films hands down. That is not to say that I have not enjoyed some of the other installments in the X-Men movie universe, but there just isn’t any topping X2. That may be about to change of this trailer is any indication. Bryan Singer remains, in my book, one of the most underrated directors of all time. His Superman movie is my second favorite in that series. And Jack The Giant Slayer was great as well. So with him at the helm, and delivering such a great trailer, the excitement for this film is continuing to mount.

And it’s all going to come to a head on…

‘The Wolverine 2’, ‘The Fantastic Four’, and ‘Prometheus 2’

‘The Wolverine 2’, ‘The Fantastic Four’, and ‘Prometheus 2’
Rodrigo Perez — The Playlist

Well, that didn’t last too long. Last week 20th Century Fox announced a rash of future dates going as far as 2018. The big eye-grabber was a trio of super hero films, “The Wolverine 2,” a sequel to “The Fantastic Four” even with the first movie yet to start shooting and an Untitled Marvel Mystery movie for summer 2018, which has still not been revealed.

Only a few steps behind in the curiosity factor was an unnamed project for March 2016. Fans asked: what could it be? “Blade Runner 2”? No, that’s at Alcon/Warner Brothers and not at Fox, so it’s out. “The Forever War” maybe? Something else?…

Apple in Talks with Comcast to Provide Streaming TV Service on Future Apple TV

Apple in Talks with Comcast to Provide Streaming TV Service on Future Apple TV
Richard Padilla — MacRumors

Apple is in talks with Comcast about using the cable provider’s network for a streaming TV service to be integrated in a future version of the Apple TV, reports The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, Apple’s set top-box would be able to access Comcast’s wide variety of channels for a monthly subscription, with the Apple TV receiving “special treatment” from Comcast when connected to its cable network to ensure that it would bypass congestion on the Internet for optimal streaming.

I’m not sure how I feel about this…

Acapella Mario (and Other) Game Music

This has absolutely nothing to do with movies or TV shows, but I absolutely love this and I thougth you guys would too. As you might recall from my previous posts about Nintendo, the Wii, the Wii U and the like, I’m a casual gamer and like to post stuff about it occasionally.

So enjoy. And feel free to click on through and some other work this guy has done. He’s pretty amazing.

Andy Serkis Will Direct Warner Bros. Version of ‘The Jungle Book’
Angie Han — /Film

Andy Serkis is going to go from playing CG animals to directing them. The acclaimed mo-cap actor is set to helm Warner Bros.’ live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, based onRudyard Kipling‘s classic tales about an orphan boy raised in the jungle.

Although Serkis has served as a second unit director on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy,The Jungle Book marks his feature directorial debut.

Dang. Now I just got interested in both of these Jungle Book Films on their way to us. Blast!

So what was the real reason Pixar canceled Newt? Well, the animation company’s president Ed Catmull revealed in a recent article just why director Gary Rydstrom’s long-gestating animated feature never saw the light of day.

As part of a series of conversations with Fast Company to promote his new book Creativity Inc., Catmull said of the failed project, “Newt was another unlikely idea that wasn’t working. When we gave it to somebody new [Pete Docter, director of Up], he said, ‘I’ll do it, but I have another idea altogether, which I think is better.’ And we thought it was better too. That was…

Brian Tyler has officially signed on to score Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Brian Tyler is a fine composer, but it makes me…
