No One Gets Taken in ‘Taken 3’

No One Gets Taken in ‘Taken 3’

But let’s get it from Liam Neeson, via Bleeding Cool. The actor was on the show hosted by Jonathan Ross in the UK, and explained “They called me up and I said “I’ll do it… but only as long as nobody gets taken.”

Neeson didn’t give up any more details, perhaps having been well-conditioned by the Christopher Nolan PR machine. Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen scripted the film, and we know that Maggie Grace, playing Neeson’s daughter, will also be back for a third turn. Kamen had actually explained this “no taking” policy for the third film back in 2012: “We’ve taken everyone we can take —…

Honest Trailer — ‘Thor: The Dark World

Honest Trailer — ‘Thor: The Dark World

I wasn’t even sure I was going to post this one until the very end. If you’ve played the game referenced you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about and it’s awesome.

And there are definitely a few funny moments here and there so it’s worth it, even if the movie was pretty good and there’s actually not a lot to complain about in my opinion.

Nintendo Has a Plan For it’s Next Console

Nintendo Has a Plan For it’s Next Console
Brad Reed — BGR

Continuing my off the movie topic Nintendo theme:

...contrary to many analysts’ opinions, the biggest problem isn’t that Nintendo lacks a strategy for smartphones and tablets so much as the Wii U has simply lacked the must-have games such as Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart that would make it a must-buy. However, Ars Technica reports that Nintendo is planning to make an important change that could ensure that its next major console doesn’t face a dearth of good games during its launch period.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said recently that his company is working on a unified…

Netflix Renews ‘House of Cards’ For a Third Season

Netflix Renews ‘House of Cards’ For a Third Season
Yvonne Villarreal — Los Angeles Times

“House of Cards” still has a winning hand as Netflix has voted in favor of a third-season renewal for the political drama.

The early renewal for a third installment, confirmed by a Netflix spokesperson, comes ahead of the Valentine’s Day rollout of its second season on the streaming service.

“House of Cards” was originally given a two-season commitment, so the news makes good on Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos’ indication last fall that he wanted to extend the show’s life past that.

Good news for the future of the on-demand TV experience. This is the future people and I’m…

Philip Seymour Hoffman Had One Major ‘Hunger Games’ Scene Left

Philip Seymour Hoffman Had One Major ‘Hunger Games’ Scene Left
Angie Han — /Film

On Monday morning, we reported Philip Seymour Hoffman had shot enough of his The Hunger Games: Mockingjay role before his passing that the release dates for the two-parter have not shifted. But he still had seven days of filming left on Part 2 and, unsurprisingly, that’s leading to some complications.

According to insiders at the studio, the late Hoffman still had one major scene left to shoot when he died. The filmmakers are now scrambling to work around his absence, possibly by digitally inserting him into some scenes.

One major scene left to shoot is nothing to sneeze at. Depending on…

‘Divergent’ Final Theatrical Trailer

‘Divergent’ Final Theatrical Trailer

I’m a sucker for this sort of film but I kind of doubt it’s going to be any good. But Lionsgate is feeling pretty good about it, they’re already working on the sequel (Insurgent).

Given the way this film looks, I’d sure be waiting to see if it made any money. Granted there do seem to be some themes that would resonate with today’s teens and young adults, such as non-conformance. And the books by Veronica Roth on which this film is based are very popular so who knows what will happen. And I’m hoping the film might be okay. You never know, stranger things have happened.

How ‘Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace’ Should Have Ended

How ‘Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace’ Should Have Ended

Aw yeah…

Actually, this is a slight disappointment because there are so many places they could have gone with this and they didn’t maximize the potential available. Still, anything that brings us a laugh at one of the more terrible films ever made — and easily the worst of the six Star Wars films — is a good thing in my book. And let’s face it, the film was riddled with plot holes, only a couple of which are pointed out in this video, the dialogued was as if it had been written by a six year old Anakin, and the characters were awful!

So enjoy this video because it’s mission to make people…

The Science Oven

The Science Oven

Join TJ, Chad, and Fizz for the ultimate Microsoft Windows Fail! Well, okay, that did happen to poor Chad, but the show must go on! It’s sad, but to start things off, the trio discuss the death of Philip Seymore Hoffman. It’s a downer, but it would have seemed wrong not to address it. Then they briefly find out if Chad and TJ did okay discussing Fizz’s top 13 films of 2013. Follwed by a good discussion on the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. Given TJ’s supreme disdain for ‘Man of Steel’, you wouldn’t think he would have so much to say about it but he does, as do Chad and Fizz. Also in question and discussion, has J.K. Rowling lost her mind? Probably. Then Chad and Fizz get to talk about ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ trailer. And don’t miss out on the spirited discussion of David O. Russell’s latest film, ‘American Hustle’.

Bryan Singer Talks about ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Superman Returns’

Bryan Singer Talks about ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Superman Returns’
Angie Han - /Film

In a recent interview, the filmmaker confirmed that Cavill had been up for the led in 2006′s Superman Returns before Brandon Routh won the part. He also revealed thatMan of Steel was the title he’d been considering for his planned sequel, which would have featured the villain Darkseid.

Say what you will about Superman Returns, I still think it is the second best Superman film made up to this point and I really wish that Singer’s sequel which he wanted to call Man of Steel was the Man of Steel we had rather than that awful mess Zack Snyder delivered to us. But alas, it was not meant to… Read The Rest

Who is Jesse Eisenberg Really Playing in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?

Who is Jesse Eisenberg Really Playing in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?
Drew McWeeny – HitFix

There’s not a trick answer to this. When Warner Bros. announced last week that Jesse Eisenberg had been hired to play Lex Luthor in the sequel to last year’s “Man Of Steel,” that is correct. He is playing Lex Luthor. But when they say that, it’s still not a definitive explanation of what you’re going to see when that film arrives in theaters on the now-scheduled date of May , 2016. Which Lex Luthor is he going to play? For comic book fans, there are many possible answers to that question, and for fans of the various live-action and animated interpretations, there are even more possibilities…
