The Effects of ‘Skyfall’
FXguide

We take a look at just some of the major sequences, including the opening train sequence and Bond’s shooting, the MI6 explosion, the Komodo dragon casino attack, the London Underground encounter, the final Scottish highlands scenes and the main titles.

I haven’t gotten to all of this yet, but it’s a lot of fun. Check it out!

Live Recording

Live Recording

Here is a chance for you to listen in as Joseph and I record The MovieByte Podcast tonight at 6:30 PM Central Time. We have added two pages to the site (which you can also find in the Podcast dropdown menu above). First is the podcast schedule page. Here you can see when episodes are scheduled, if they’ll be live recording, and when whey will be released.

The second page is where you listen to the live recording. At a future date I hope to integrate an official chat into the live page, but for now we’ll use the built in chat for the site I’m using for the live broadcast, Mixlr. You’ll…

Matthew Vaughn Sort of Confirmed for ‘Star Wars VII’

Matthew Vaughn Sort of Confirmed for ‘Star Wars VII’
FilmoFilia.com

After lots of speculation, rumors, declines and debunks, Star Wars: Episode VII appears to have finally gotten a director! What happened is, Jason Flemyng confirmed Matthew Vaughn’s involvement in the project while on the red carpet for Seven Psychopaths.

...

“Me and Matt have done nine films together, so I’m sure I’ll get the call for Star Wars.”

...

On a follow-up question – if Vaughn is interested – Flemyng looks shocked when he realises the journalists don’t know about Vaughn’s involvement…

Oopsie. Well that get’s pretty close to settling it. I thought it sounded pretty…

‘The Hobbit’ First Clip

‘The Hobbit’ First Clip

Well that sword looks familiar! In this clip Gandalf (Ian McKellan) entrusts Bilbo (Martin Freeman) with the sword that glows blue when orcs are around, which Bilbo later names Sting.

Veronica Belmont, ‘Looper’ Fact or Fictional?

Veronica Belmont, ‘Looper’ Fact or Fictional?

Veronica Belmont explores the possibilities of time travel and whether Looper could really happen or not. Personally, I put it squarely in the fictional realm and enjoy it on that level, but apparently Veronica’s guest, Dr. Ronald Mallett calls time travel a scientific possibility.

This one is a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Corey Kinda Likes ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Corey Kinda Likes ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’
Reel Quick

Before you scoff, I have a confession to make: this is a surprisingly enjoyable film. Not great, or even very good, but lots of fun all the same. Walker does an excellent job as the axe-weilding Abe, and director Bekmambetov knows how to stage crazy, visually-arresting freeform action sequences like nobody’s business.

I think it probable that Corey has lost his mind. But, I suppose I’ll have to give this film a viewing sooner or later. Bleh.

Cheetah Running at 1200 Frames Per Second

Cheetah Running at 1200 Frames Per Second

This is not related to any movie or TV show really, but it’s really awesome and I wanted to share it with you.

National Geographic captured a cheetah running 60 MPH at 1200 frames per second. Resulting 24 frames per second playback results in this super slo-mo, super awesome video. Seriously, I can’t think of a cooler thing to watch this morning. It’s a good thing that kitty is somewhat tame, because nobody is going to be outrunning it! Check it out! Toward the end in the credits, you can see how fast that little kitty is actually running.

Bane Blows Up Football Stadium

Bane Blows Up Football Stadium

Here’s another behind the scenes video from the upcoming Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight Rises talking about the scene where Bane blows up a football stadium.

Personally, more than the special features, I can’t wait to sit down and watch all three films back to back… okay, maybe not in one sitting or anything, but perhaps 3 nights.

Here’s the special feature:

Josh Hutcherson Talks ‘Catching Fire’

Josh Hutcherson Talks ‘Catching Fire’
MTV.com

“They actually built a cornucopia in Atlanta that we shot at, and it looks amazing, and the way that the spokes got out, and the way everyone comes up on the pedestals and the water — it looks incredible,” he gushed. “I’ve seen some of the CG renderings that [director] Francis [Lawrence] has worked on, and they look really, really great.”

But the morsel fans will savor most is what Hutcherson had to say about the portions being filmed in IMAX.

I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to this film. Here’s the video of Josh Hutcherson from the link:

The Piano Guys - ‘Lord of the Rings’

The Piano Guys - ‘Lord of the Rings’

The Piano Guys are awesome and this is soooo worth watching.

From the YouTube Page:

All of the sounds you hear were created by cello, piano, and vocal textures

This video was all filmed within a 20-mile radius in Southern Utah! There’s a rumor they might film The Hobbit II here. Well, at least there is now. =)

Story behind the song:

Since the beginning of The Piano Guys, “Lord of the Rings” has been our most requested work. As we reach one million subscribers we thought it fitting to dedicate this arrangement to our “subs.” This was an intimidating project—encompassing…
