Peeta is also here in this video as before, but now we also have a new face: Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) who doesn’t looks especially pleased to be a part of President Snow’s address to the nation.

So what exactly is Bayhem? It’s a question worth asking. The reasons for Bay’s success may be beyond you if you do not take the time to analyze what Bay is doing in his filmmaking. There is no doubt that when it comes to technique, Bay is (usually) in a master class with very, very few others. There are certainly directors that try to replicate “Bayhem”, but they almost always fail miserably (John M. Chu in G.I. Joe: Retaliation comes to mind). Whatever your perspective on Bay or his copycats, it’s worth noting the things he does that work.

Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes has to be one of the worst films in existence. So obviously, the Honest Trailer for this one nails it. And I’m certainly looking forward to the upcoming film and expect it to be even better than the rebooted reboot, which was decent enough.

Oh man, can this not just be out in theaters now so I can see this instead of the Transformers trash? I mean really, this looks so awesome. And man, Rocket Raccoon! I mean, who doesn’t want to see this. This just looks too good. Marvel, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

This new promo for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy should finally get you interested in this film since no one was before… wait, what?

No really though, this is a little featurette kind of thing that makes my mouth water all the more. Humor, fun, comic book heroes, what more could we ask for?

One of the films I’m quite excited for this year is Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Francis Lawrence did a fantastic job with Catching Fire and I can’t wait to see what he does with the next two films. James Newton Howard has also done fantastic work with the music and he’s back. The cast is back, they’re all back. This is part 1 and it’s due on November 21 in theaters, so naturally, we’re starting to see teasers. This is just the first of many. It’s actually an add from the Capitol and President Snow. I love this sort of viral marketing.

Despite the very obvious influence of Michael Bay, I’m cautiously optimistc that this might just be good stupid fun. I have no delusions that it will be “good” but can it please just be better than Transformers?

I’ve had this in my Instapaper queue for several days, possibly before my vacation if memory serves, but I’ve finally gotten around to watching it. I am completely unfamiliar with this story but it seems like it could be a good sci-fi epic. But it also feels like it could just be cheesy and bad. Here is the description from IMDb:

Oh man, I nearly laughed myself to death watching this. This, folks, is why you can’t quite trust trailers. In my heart, I truly believe that Guardians of the Galaxy will be pretty much like what we’re getting in the trailer, but this is proof that trailers can be extremely deceptive.
