‘Maleficent’ Trailer 2 — A New Spin on An Old Fairytale

‘Maleficent’ Trailer 2 — A New Spin on An Old Fairytale

I’m sure we’re all familiar with the old Disney classic of Sleeping Beauty. I’m sure I’ve seen it hundreds of times. But this is a new take on the tale — actually starting apparently well before the classic tale begins exploring how Meleficent became evil.

I’ll tell you, in the teaser trailer, and now in this trailer, it sure seems like Angeline Jolie is the perfect actress to play Maleficent. I’m kind of looking forward to seeing if this film is any good.

Synopsis:

The untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young…

First Clip From Upcoming ‘The Monuments Men’

It’s not like this is one of my highly anticipated films of the year or anything, but I am looking forward to this film a little bit. And a February release make me think the studio doesn’t think very highly of it. Still…

It’s based on a true story from the World War II era focusing on a platoon takes by FDR with the preservation and rescue of cultural artifacts, historical objects, artistic objects, things of value and relevance. The official synopsis from Sony Pictures is as follows:

Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action drama…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Episode 13 Promo

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Episode 13 Promo

I will continue to maintain that if you don’t like this show we probably can’t be friends. I really don’t get what everybody doesn’t like about this show. It’s really fantastic and it’s just getting better and better. This week’s episode was great where Colson gets to deal with what’s been going on in his past and dig up what’s going on with Skye’s past.

And keep your eyes open for a special Marvel guest start in this trailer!

‘Walk of Shame’ Trailer Featuring Elizabeth Banks

‘Walk of Shame’ Trailer Featuring Elizabeth Banks

I can’t say this looks great — in fact it looks really silly and crazy I think. The idea here is the Banks character goes on a crazy night, has a one night stand, then gets a call from the network about an opportunity for a big news anchor gig. But when she runs out to her car it’s being towed and (for whatever reason) it has her purse in it and she has no way to get where she needs to go and no ID. Hillarity (apparently) ensues.

I like Elizabeth Banks but I’m just not sure about this thing. We’ll have to see what’s in store for us when the film is released to theaters on April 25th.

‘Jack Ryan’ New Clip and 2 New Featurettes

‘Jack Ryan’ New Clip and 2 New Featurettes

I’m still not entirely pleased with the fact that Jack Ryan has been changed from a CIA analyst that gets thrust into crazy situations, into secret agent that seeks them out, but whatever. We’ve got to keep the story fresh and changed up for a modern audience — or something. I guess my problem is Jack Ryan is not Jason Bourne, but someone forgot to tell the script writers and/or directory Kenneth Branagh.

Still, I hope it’s worth something. One of my problems with the previous Jack Ryan films as a franchise is they were not cohesive. Only two of the four films featured the same actor as Jack…

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Clip “Couples Therapy”

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Clip “Couples Therapy”

Hey, so speaking of looking foward to Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, we’ve got a new clip from the upcoming film. It’s not much really, but you know you take what you can get sometimes.

In this clip it looks like Cathy (Keira Knightley) is not too happy with Jack (Chris Pine) for keeping his work secret. Then Jack’s Boss (Kevin Costner) basically tells them to suck it up because lives are at stake, including their own.

This Kenneth Branagh directed reboot of the Jack Ryan films hits the theaters in just eight days on January 17.

Honest Action - Home Alone

Honest Action - Home Alone

Screen Junkies just keep cranking ‘em out. You know maybe some of you have just recenlty seen Home Alone, since it’s kind of a Christmas movie. Maybe it’s a Christmas tradition? Well I didn’t see it, but this kind of makes me want to go back and watch it again. Because no matter how stupid and implausible, it’s just fun. And so is this video.

Have you ever wondered how many lives your favorite action hero would really need to survive a movie? We asked an actual doctor to answer that question for us in Screen Junkies’ new series “Honest Action.” Next up, The Wet Bandits in Home Alone.

ILM’s Visual Effects for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

ILM’s Visual Effects for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

Star Trek Into Darkness was a lot better than J.J.‘s first film in this new, rebooted universe in my opinion, but man holy cow! there’s a lot of CGI in it.

ILM has released to videos to showcase the work they did on the film. The first is really a sort of visual effects reel of the overall film. The second features commentary from Roger Guyett, Visual Effects Supervisor, and Paul Kavanahg, Animation Supervisor. They talk about all some of the things that went into making the red planet look as it did.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” contains over 1600 visual effects shots, created by Industrial…

‘First Stars I See Tonight’ - Short Film Staring Elle Fanning

‘First Stars I See Tonight’ - Short Film Staring Elle Fanning

This is a fun little short film staring Elle Fanning as a girl recounting her experience of seeing stars for the first time after having been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa from a very early age. It’s a great little story, and man can Elle Fanning put on a charming Scottish accent or what? The visual effects are also interesting. It was all shot on green screen and all elements around the actors were added in.

Very sweet little film.
