
“For a moment there, I thought it would work out to do ‘Tomorrowland’ and go right into it, [but then I realized] it wouldn’t work,” he explained. “There was no way to make that schedule and give this film the attention it deserved. I know it’s going to be terrific and everything, but I’m really happy to do this film. It’s rare to do a film of this size that’s original.”
Man, if I were a director, I’ve got to tell you that there would be a few opportunities on my list of, “never ever ever ever ever turn down,” and Star Wars would be one of those.
I’m being a little facetious, but I sure would like to have seen what a Brad Bird Star Wars would look like. He’s given us one of the greatest super hero films of all time — even if it was an animated film (The Incredibles), and he gave us the wonderful Ratatouille. He also did a decent job on Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. I think I would have rather liked his Star Wars film.
