Christian Bale Rumored To Be In Negotiations for the Role of Steve Jobs

Christian Bale Rumored To Be In Negotiations for the Role of Steve Jobs
Esther Zuckerman — Entertainment Weekly

Christian Bale best start picking out his turtlenecks: He is on the road to playing Steve Jobs in Sony’s adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is “beginning negotiations” with Bale, and a source confirmed to Ethat the actor is indeed in talks for the role in the Aaron Sorkin-scripted biopic. Danny Boyle is now attached to direct the film, but Bale was reportedly David Fincher’s pick to play the Apple co-founder before those negotiations collapsed.

Bale really gets into his roles and goes to great lengths to make them as authentic as…

George Lucas Says Studios “Don’t Have Any Imagination or Talent”

George Lucas Says Studios “Don’t Have Any Imagination or Talent”
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

“...the problem has always been the studios,” Lucas told Charlie Rose on “CBS This Morning.” “Although the beginning of the studios, the entrepreneurs who ran the studios were sort of creative guys. They would just take books and turn them into movies and do things like that. Suddenly all these corporations were coming in. They didn’t know anything about the movie business.”

“The studios went back to saying, ‘Well we don’t trust you people and we think we know how to make movies,’” Lucas continued. “The studios change everything all the time. And, unfortunately, they don’t have any…

Hasbro Working on ‘My Little Pony’ For Release in 2017

Hasbro Working on ‘My Little Pony’ For Release in 2017
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Hasbro Studios will deliver a “My Little Pony” animated movie to theaters in 2017. Joe Ballarini (“Ice Age: Continental Drift”) is writing the script for this one, which will help Hasbro expand the brand which already includes toys, video games, comic books, straight-to-DVD movies, and much more. Of course, “My Little Pony” has seen another rise in pop culture thanks to bronies—aka adult dudes  and teens—who have fallen in love with the series “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.” It’ll be interesting to see what mix of elements Hasbro lands on to court the young girls they want to buy…

James Cameron Spills Beans on How Schwarzenegger Can Be In New Terminator

James Cameron Spills Beans on How Schwarzenegger Can Be In New Terminator
Matt Singer — The Dissolve

“I wasn’t interested in producing it or working on it actively, but I did want to put in a good word for Arnold. I pointed out that the outer covering (of the Terminator) was actually not synthetic, that it was organic and therefore could age. You could theoretically have a Terminator that was sent back in time, missed his target, and ended up just kind of living on in society. Because he is a learning computer and has a brain as a central processor he could actually become more human as he went along without getting discovered.”

You’ll forgive me, I assume, if I say that this Terminator:…

Early Buzz Says ‘Big Hero 6’ Is Another Winner From Disney Animation

Early Buzz Says ‘Big Hero 6’ Is Another Winner From Disney Animation
Germain Lussier — Film

November 7 brings two of the biggest movies of the year. First is Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and the second is Disney Animation’s Big Hero 6Interstellar has only screened for a very small selection of people but Big Hero 6 is starting to roll out. Thursday night, the social media embargo on the film broke and the Twitter reactions began.

The early verdict based on about a dozen opinions? Disney Animation has another hit on their hands.

Great to hear. I’m really looking forward to this one.

‘Pacific Rim 2’ Begins Filming in 2015 And Leads Right In To ‘Pacific Rim 3’

‘Pacific Rim 2’ Begins Filming in 2015 And Leads Right In To ‘Pacific Rim 3’
Angie Han — /Film

With an April 7, 2017 release date already locked in, it’s no surprise Guillermo del Toro is deep into work on Pacific Rim 2. What’s a bit more intriguing is that he’s planning the movie with an eye on the sequel, the not-yet-greenlit Pacific Rim 3.

Whereas Pacific Rim 2 is expected to differ quite a bit from Pacific Rim 1, it seems 2 and may be more closely linked.

On the one hand, Pacific Rim was a fine film and Guillermo del Torro did a fantastic job with it. Like my friend Fizz said on episode 52 of of The MovieByte Podcast where we talked about Pacific Rim, it was as if every time…

CBS Launches Subscription Streaming Service

CBS Launches Subscription Streaming Service
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Should Netflix be looking over its shoulder? Yesterday, HBO made the surprise announcement that in 2015 they would be launching a stand-alone streaming service. But today, CBS beat them to punch by launching CBS All Access, which for the low price of $5.99/month grants access to almost everything the network has to offer. The key word here being “almost.”

It’s good to see an older content provider like CBS being drug kicking and screaming into the 21st centry. That said, I can’t see why I would pay for this. I’m already paying three companies for access to content — Netflix, Hulu, and…

‘Miss Medows’ Trailer Starring Katie Holmes

‘Miss Medows’ Trailer Starring Katie Holmes

Well this isn’t creepy at all. Not a bit. WAIT YES IT IS!

Some has said that she’s playing a Pulp Fiction version of Mary Poppins in this film. Whatever, she’s scary. But it appears maybe not altogether in a bad way? It’s a little unclear at this point. It seems she’s more of a vigilante.

Katie Holmes has come a long way from Dawson’s Creek and one certainly does not think of a badass when they think of Holmes. That may be what makes this trailer most effective — seeing sweet Katie Holmes turn a bit… deadly!

The film makes it’s appearance on November 14th.

3 TV Spots For Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

3 TV Spots For Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

It’s Christopher Nolan, and it’s sci-fi, so what could go wrong?

Well given that I don’t think his last two films were up to what I consider the level of his best work, I don’t know what could go wrong. Hopefully nothing. It looks really good and until proven otherwise I’m going to believe it is really good.

The film comes to theaters on November 7.

Brad Bird On Why He Passed Up Directing ‘Star Wars 7’

“For a moment there, I thought it would work out to do ‘Tomorrowland’ and go right into it, [but then I realized] it wouldn’t work,” he explained. “There was no way to make that schedule and give this film the attention it deserved. I know it’s going to be terrific and everything, but I’m really happy to do this film. It’s rare to do a film of this size that’s original.”

Man, if I were a director, I’ve got to tell you that there would be a few opportunities on my list of, “never ever ever ever ever turn down,” and Star Wars would be one of those.

I’m being a little facetious, but I sure…
