This week a few items of interest include a comparison of the ‘Back to the Future’ actors age make-up, and what they actually look like now 30 years later, whether Mark Strong or Bryan Cranston should play Lex Luthor (or maybe someone else altogether), ‘Now You See Me’ is getting a sequel, Was Christian Bale offered $50 Million to play Batman again?, a rumor that Ian McDiarmid will be reprising his role as Palpatine in Episode VII, Natalie Portman has a *possible* ‘Thor’ spoiler, and do ‘Trek’ fans hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’? And the main review this week is ‘Elysium’ which TJ didn’t like and desperately wanted to be better. Fizz liked it better but he also had his complaints about it.

Mark Wahlberg Would Like to Play Iron Man

Mark Wahlberg Would Like to Play Iron Man
Germain Lussier - /Film

In a new interview, Mark Wahlberg says he’d like to take over the Iron Man franchise from Robert Downey Jr. He’s mostly kidding. The line is delivered in a semi-joking tone and he goes on to say he’s never really been asked to play a superhero. He prefers to play someone real and relatable.

No. Just, no.

‘The Wolverine’ Early Script Draft Featured Rogue

‘The Wolverine’ Early Script Draft Featured Rogue
Mark Langshaw - Digital Spy

The Wolverine screenwriter Mark Bomback has revealed that an early draft of the film’s screenplay featured X-Men team member Rogue.

The scribe said that he wanted to include the mutant - played by Anna Paquin in the original X-Men trilogy - in the story, but scrapped the idea when her involvement became problematic.

“I was trying to do something with Rogue in the script. I even had a set of ideas that the old man [Yashida] possessed a version of Rogue’s power and that was going to be indicated by a white stripe in his hair,” he told CreativeScreenwriting.com.

“Eventually it became very…

‘Trek’ Fans Hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’?

‘Trek’ Fans Hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’?
Graeme McMillan - The Hollywood Reporter

According to Faraci, “Star Trek Into Darkness was met with boos when it was mentioned, and one guy took the mic to say these reboots shouldn’t even be considered for a list of Star Trek movies.” Into Darkness was met with hardcore fan apathy when released in May—although both fans and mainstream audiences seemed to enjoy it —but that it’s unpopular to the point of booing (or being named the least popular movie in the series, for that matter) may be something that Paramount and executive producers/writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman might want to take into account before planning the third…

Meyer Says Critics Punished ‘The Host’ Because of ‘Twilight’

Meyer Says Critics Punished ‘The Host’ Because of ‘Twilight’
Bryan Alexander - USA TODAY

Stephenie Meyer believes her step into the sci-fi world in The Host was crushed by critics eager to stomp on the film after Twilight.

The Host took in a disappointing $26 million total after opening in March and scored a 35 out of 100 from combined critic scores on Metacritic.com.

That may be true, but I’m not sure that completely explains the lack-luster reception to the film by the general audience, who really don’t give a care about what critics say, as is evidenced by the often seen disparity of the audience and critics sides of the Tomatometer.

But since the first vampire love…

Natalie Portman’s Phrasing Could Have Possible ‘Thor’ Spoiler

Natalie Portman’s Phrasing Could Have Possible ‘Thor’ Spoiler
Jack Klompus - Digital Spy

The actress, who returns as Jane Foster in the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World, gave a strong hint about the series’ future.

Asked about co-star Anthony Hopkins’s comments that he wants Thor to continue, Portman told E! Online: “Yeah, well I think they are going to make a Thor 3, so I think Anthony will be pleased.

The emphasis on the word “they” is mine but I think it’s indicative of where they may have taken the character of Jane Foster for Thor 2. But if that is so, I still say they have been way to open with it in the trailers. I still think there may be more there than…

‘Iron Man 3’ Deleted Scene and Gag Reel

‘Iron Man 3’ Deleted Scene and Gag Reel

Marvel, start your marketing engines! These two items are the first in what is sure to be a long line of teasers, gag reels, clips, deleted scenes and more from the upcoming Iron Man 3 home video release.

If you’re into all this cool stuff, you’ll probably want to snag your home video copy on September 24.

[SPOILER]

The first is a deleted scene featuring The Mandarin. It’s no wonder it was deleted, though not overt, I think it would have been enough to clue me in that something wasn’t quite right in terms of him as a villian, which would have spoiled the surprise a bit.

And then this…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Casts Ian Hart

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Casts Ian Hart
James Hibberd - Entertainment Weekly

The team working on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have an unwritten rule: All super-powers introduced on the show must be explained by science — not magic or supernatural forces.* So it should come as no surprise that the show is adding another scientist to its ensemble cast.

Actor Ian Hart is joining the highly anticipated ABC series in a recurring role. As usual, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is being very tight-lipped about the character and how he will impact the drama.

The only role I’ve seen him in is in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as Professor Quirrell. He was fine, I did not…
