‘In the Queue’ Episode 1

‘In the Queue’ Episode 1
Que.am

In the first episode of In the Queue, TJ and I give a brief overview of the show’s format and talk about the shows we watch on a regular basis. Also featuring a chat about our current home theater setups.

I was asked by my friend Alex Arena to be a part of his new Podcast network, Que.am, and be co-host on a new show, In the Queue. I was glad to accept. This one is going to be a lot of fun. Check out this pilot episode in which we talk about how we connect to and watch our streaming media, talk about the shows we watch, and pick Revolution as our weekly “book club” like show to watch…

Hindsight 2012

Hindsight 2012

TJ and Joseph welcome special guest this week, Melinda Snodgrass, a successful screenwriter, and particularly as pertains to this episode, wrote one of the best ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ episodes in Season 2, ‘The Measure of a Man’. She tells us a lot about the writing process on ‘Star Trek’ and what that was like, and talks particularly about that episode, her love for the character Data, her thoughts on how to better use the cast and crew of the Enterprise, the great character moments in the episode, ‘The Next Generation in HD’ and the extended cut of ‘The Measure of a Man’. It was great fun to talk to her. Then TJ and Joseph briefly review two films they didn’t care much for, ‘Killing them Softly’, and ‘Playing for Keeps’. And finally, they welcome special guest, Michael Minkoff as they talk about gearing up for relaunching the Movieology brand as a podcast on MovieByte, some discussion on the favorite films of 2012 and more.

‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer

‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer

This looks like it’s going to be a somewhat mindless action flick, but those can be fun, and this one looks fun.

Synopsis:

“When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the…

New Trailer for ‘G.I. Joe 2’

New Trailer for ‘G.I. Joe 2’

This isn’t destined to be best movie ever, or my favorite movie or anything, but I’m thinking this is going to be a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to it.

Be aware though, it feels like there’s a lot of spoilers in this trailer. There was some information being given away where I was thinking, dude, I would have kept that a secret. Oh well, it’s a fun watch anyway.

‘Nobel Intentions: Five-Twenty-Ten’

‘Nobel Intentions: Five-Twenty-Ten’

There’s a lot of interesting things going on this season, from Peter almost losing himself by putting Observer tech in his head, to losing Etta, to Walter having his full brain capacity back.

Very happy with the season so far. We only have a very few more episodes left and I’m eager to see how they wrap it up.

Killing Them Softly Nearly Killed Me — Review

Killing Them Softly Nearly Killed Me

This is not going to be a long review. I doubt it will even be a medium review. This film will be lucky to get 500 words out of me. Let’s dive in.

Yap Yap Yap

I’m not usually one pushing for more action and less drama, but goodness gracious I thought I was going to die in my chair in that theater before anything ever happened in this film. It seemed as if all the characters ever did was talk about things I did not care about, share with us mundane details of their very low lives. And I just didn’t care. Sure it’s probably realistic, I mean think about all the things we like to talk…

Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo

Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo
Movie Line

Among the filmmakers who turned up to praise the Les Misérables star at the Museum of the Moving Image’s salute to Jackman in lower Manhattan on Tuesday night was The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan who grew an enormous Cheshire-Cat grin when I asked him if the Superman reboot he is producing, Man of Steel, would see a cameo by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or any actor, as Batman, and if he had any objections to a cameo as a continuity move to tie the Supes movie to the 2015 Justice League movie.

“I can’t talk about that.  You know that,” Nolan said cheerily. I didn’t know that,…

‘The Hobbit’ Str8voices

‘The Hobbit’ Str8voices

I don’t know anything at all about this group, but this is just so much pure awesome that I had to share it with you all! I mean, so much awesome! And I do love that tune from the upcoming film The Hobbit, it’s very catchy and very well done.

If for nothing else at all, I’m looking forward to the film for the music.

Batman (1989) — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Batman (1989)

Tim Burton’s Batman is a strange animal: too dark to be enjoyed as pure camp, and too absurd to be viewed as serious entertainment.

Discarding the outright goofiness of 1960s TV series, Burton takes a grimmer, gloomier approach to the Batman mythos. The result is both fantastically stylish and frustratingly hollow: a celebration of style over substance that dazzles the eye without ever engaging the mind or heart.

The Super

Batman won an Oscar for Art Direction & Set Decoration, and it’s not hard to see why. The elaborate gothic-industrial design of Gotham City is slick and atmospheric…

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer 2

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer 2

Here it is! Trailer 2 for Man of Steel.

While I’m much happier with this music in that it’s not a direct lift from Lord of the Ring (how strange was that?), let’s just say that I am still really missing John Williams magnificent Superman theme. In fact, I had to go to iTunes and give it a listen after seeing the Man of Steel, but not hearing his music.

In fact, this entire trailer is not all that impressive to me.

But still, I’ll definitely be interested to see what they are doing with this film.
