As the September 24 start date of ABC’s new superhero series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.looms, we are increasingly worried about our poor ring fingers. Meaning, do we have to type all those periods every time we write the title of this show?

We’re inclined to say no, to be obstinate in the face of authority. We’re looking forward to Joss Whedon’s new series as much as any dweeb, and have dutifully, painstakingly used the extreme punctuation used in all the marketing materials. But increasingly, the thought of writing out that whole ungainly title, periods and all, every time this show…

I won’t wast too much of your time with my babbling about how great this show is going to be. The awesome is just right below this really short blurb.

Let me just say my favorite line out of all five videos is, “I’m not Hermione, I can’t create instant paralysis with that.”

Warner Bros. has announced a new Harry Potter-related film series based in the world of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie will be an “original story and will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series.”

What’s more, the series will focus on the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander. According to Rowling, the first film will be set 70 years before the first Harry Potter book in New York.

Wow. So um, hmm. Okay.

I don’t know whether to be excited about this…

ABC issued a press release in regards to SHIELD that I thought you all might enjoy, even if it does get a little bit, well, press releas-ish at times. Still, if you’re looking forward to a great show, this is a fun read.

Episode VII will be J.J. Abrams‘ first time directing a Star Wars movie, but technically it won’t be his first time working with a Star Wars character. The self-admitted Star Wars fanboy slipped an R2-D2 cameo into 2009′s Star Trek, and we’ve now learned that the droid made a return appearance in Star Trek Into Darkness.

Here it is, R2 being sucked out of the hull breach while the big E is at warp:

Iron Man 3, the Shane Black-directed sequel to last year’s phenomenal Avengers movie, is now available on iTunes and comes complete with iTunes Extras. What’s more, a JARVIS app is coming next week for iPhone as well. Jarvis was originally Tony Stark’s - very human - butler. When Marvel made the Iron Man movie, however, they re-imagined JARVIS as an artificially intelligent computer system to run Tony’s house, and eventually his armor. Think Super Siri.

Head on over and grab it, guys! This was one of the better movies this year so far. 

Katee likes the big firearms apparently. If you’ve been on the fence about heading out the theater to see Riddick perhaps this little teaser will help. If you saw and liked the film, then you will probably also like this video, espeically if you, like me, tend to like to see cool stuff from various actors in various films. And let’s face it, the former Battlestar Galatica star stole pretty much every scene she was in.

Agents of SHIELD is one of the more exciting things to come to television in a while, and I am greatly looking forward to it. Of course, as such, I’m eating up everything they put out — and sharing it with you all because that’s the way I am.

And apparently Agent Coulson thinks his team is good enough that he’s willing to give up having over 100 men at his disposal.

I may have long outgrown the need to watch Sesame Street or whatever, but I’m not going to deny that this was fun. The kid in me laughed out loud. It’s been years since I’ve seen Cookie Monster and this was just fun.
