Listen Live Tonight

Don’t forget to tune in live tonight to our live broadcast of The MovieByte Podcast. We’ll be talking about Spielberg’s Hook for Favorite Fun Futon Films for February. I’ll probably also mention Identity Thief, which I (regretfully) saw this past weekend. And who knows what else we might talk about, a lot of trailers and clips this week and we’ll be giving our thoughts and the like.

If you want to have some influence on the show and what we talk about, be sure to tune in live where you can join us in the chatroom and talk with us and other listeners. We’ll be keeping an eye out for you…

‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ Clip

‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ Clip

Following up on the new trailer, this clip from Bryan Singer’s upcoming Jack the Giant Slayer has surfaced featuring Ewan McGregor and Ian McShane.

“So what did you find out up there? Do these giants have any weaknesses?” bellows Ian McShane. “Not many, no,” replies Ewan McGregor.

Should be fun at the very least.

‘Monsters University’ Clip

‘Monsters University’ Clip

Here’s a conversation on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with John Goodman, and a clip for the upcoming Monsters University. We’ve seen parts of the clip in the trailer, but this is an entire sequence in which Sully and Mike meet for the first time at college. I don’t think Mike was super happy to make Sully’s acquaintance. The meeting could have gone better for sure.

‘Die Hard’ “Big Ole Bird” Clip

‘Die Hard’ “Big Ole Bird” Clip

We’re here! The time has come. A Good Day to Die Hard comes out tomorrow. With that in mind, we’ve got a sneak peek clip right here for you to gander at. I’m not quite sure what the angle is here jumping out of the window and all, looks like a good way to die to me. But given that John McClane doesn’t simply die, well I’m guessing that’s unlikely.

I hope the Russians are ready to have their butts kicked tomorrow!

Bryan Singer Talks ‘Man of Steel’

Bryan Singer Talks ‘Man of Steel’
TotalFilm

Bryan Singer recently spoke to Total Film about Jack The Giant Slayer (look out for that in a future issue), and we found time to ask him about his feelings towards Superman.

Was he disappointed that he didn’t get the chance to carry on his own franchise with sequel Man Of Steel after his own reboot, Superman Returns?

“If this was a few year ago, I might have [felt disappointed] - but so much time has passed. I’ve done two movies [since Superman Returns], I’ll be on my third movie now in the [X-Men] universe… so whilst it would have been nice then, now I’m actually genuinely…

‘Wreck-it Ralph’ Credits Sequence (no really! this is fun!)

‘Wreck-it Ralph’ Credits Sequence (no really! this is fun!)

Look, I would normally never post a film’s credit sequence. I mean, how boring and droll, right? But Wreck-it Ralph has some special, heart warming — well, for geeks like me — credits. Lots of fun stuff going on here, a few laughs, some 8 bit nostalgia, the works. Plus, you know, OWL CITY!

Give it a watch, you’ll be glad you did.

‘Monsters University’ Featurette

‘Monsters University’ Featurette

While we’re waiting on a full length trailer for Monsters University, I’ve got a little something to tide us over. Director Dan Scanlon hosts a featurette about the upcoming film with a look at some basic plot elements, and other fun stuff.

Returning to the film are John Goodman as James P. Sullivan, and Billy Crystal as Mike Wazowski. It should be a lot of fun.

The Best of Both Worlds on Blu-ray

The Best of Both Worlds on Blu-ray

One of the best, or certainly one of the most well known episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation is The Best of Both Worlds, parts 1 and 2. Who could forget Locutus of Borg? And for the time, the special effects were outstanding. And man that cliffhanger. I remember it quite well. In my then eight year old mind, I just knew Captain Picard was done for.

Well, now we get to enjoy the two parter episode turned into one single feature in HD on Blu-ray. It’s pretty awesome stuff and here’s the trailer:

The Gentleman Pickpocket

The Gentleman Pickpocket

This was so much fun! If you want to be truly impressed by a “thief” then this is the one to watch.

I’ll tell you, even after watcing it and him somewhat explaining it I have a hard time imagining how to do it. Watch it! You will enjoy it!

Theorizing about a Han Solo Spinoff

Theorizing about a Han Solo Spinoff
/Film

Yesterday it was revealed that Disney is developing a Star Wars spin-off standalone film that would follow a young Han Solo, set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.

But what will this movie be about?

Sifting through the backstory established in the original trilogy, the elaborate expanded universe in the books and games, witht he help of Wookieepedia, we have some good ideas of what we might expect from this stand alone tale.

I had fun reading this one this morning.
