While we’re waiting on a full length trailer for Monsters University, I’ve got a little something to tide us over. Director Dan Scanlon hosts a featurette about the upcoming film with a look at some basic plot elements, and other fun stuff.

Returning to the film are John Goodman as James P. Sullivan, and Billy Crystal as Mike Wazowski. It should be a lot of fun.

One of the best, or certainly one of the most well known episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation is The Best of Both Worlds, parts 1 and 2. Who could forget Locutus of Borg? And for the time, the special effects were outstanding. And man that cliffhanger. I remember it quite well. In my then eight year old mind, I just knew Captain Picard was done for.

Well, now we get to enjoy the two parter episode turned into one single feature in HD on Blu-ray. It’s pretty awesome stuff and here’s the trailer:

Not my favorite Star Trek series by any means, in fact easily the worst. To top it off, the first season is absolutely terrible, mostly devoid of action, terrible plots, lack of interesting character dynamics, stupid gaffes that mess up Star Trek‘s timeline and more. Oh, and that theme music. BLEH! Whoever thought it was okay to use sudo pop music for a star trek theme should be FIRED!

But it is Star Trek, and I still like it better than a lot of TV trash out there.

Actually, as funny as this is, there is some good stuff here to see. I’m excited for this film, I think it will be better than the shambles that was Iron Man 2. I’m thinking there’s actually a good story to tell here with Tony Stark and the emotional aftermath of the events from The Avengers. The thing about Iron Man is that he started off as not so great of a guy, and that gives him a lot of places to go, to grow. It makes for great story.

It’s pretty safe to say that I hate sports. Well okay, some sports are tolerable when I’m the one doing the playing. But I cannot stand watching sports on TV, and I can barely stand watching most sports in person on the sidelines. I know that this puts in me in the bottom 10th of a group of less than 1% of the citizens of the United States of America, but I can’t help it. I just don’t like sports and never have.

But one good thing did come from the Super Bowl…

I’m given to understand that it was shot entirely on an iPhone and the sets involve his apartment, a hair salon, models and more.

Thumbs up if you’re excited to see Tom Cruise return to the screen in a re-release of Top Gun, this time in IMAX 3D!  The 1986 Tony Scott-directed action classic will open in select IMAX 3D theaters on February 8th and run until February 13th.  The remastered edition will also debut on a two-disc Blu-ray in 2D and 3D versions starting February 19th.  A new trailer for Top Gun IMAX 3D is now available for your viewing pleasure and nostalgia.  You have permission to hit the jump, Ghost Rider.
