Halle Berry in ‘The Call’ - Trailer

Halle Berry in ‘The Call’ - Trailer

When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.

It’s funny that despite my watching the film universe like a hawk I can still miss stuff like this. It’s an indication of bad marketing, frankly. Still, this film has a couple more months so maybe they can get it some publicity. The original trailer has been out for a bit, the trailer I found today is a TV spot. They are both below. It looks like an…

‘Oblivion’ - First TV Spot

‘Oblivion’ - First TV Spot

Hey look, it’s Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise.

Seriously though, while Tom Cruise can only play certain types of characters, he’s really good at playing those characters and this looks like one of the good ones. Also, MORGAN FREEMAN! What can go wrong?

Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. ‘At Any Price’ Trailer - Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron

‘At Any Price’ Trailer - Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron

Here’s a trailer for an upcoming film I have just become aware of: At Any Price. It could be an interesting film, though it could also fall into some traps. Of course it’s also Zac Efron, which may turn some people off right away.

I can’t find an official synopsis at this time, but here’s a really short blurb from IMDb:

A farming family’s business is threatened by an unexpected crisis, further testing the relationship between a father and his rebellious son.

And the trailer:

‘Emperor’ Trailer (Tommy Lee Jones and Mathew Fox)

‘Emperor’ Trailer (Tommy Lee Jones and Mathew Fox)

Lost meets Men in Black or something like that.

No, seriously, this does look like it could be good. Staring Tommy Lee Jones as General Douglas MacArthur, who’s name speaks for itself, and Mathew Fox, who I know from Lost and that’s pretty much it. I reckon that’s his claim to fame. But I have had no complaints with his acting abilities there so I’m not worried.

Here’s the quick synopsis from IMDb:

As the Japanese surrender at the end of WWII, Gen. Fellers is tasked with deciding if Emperor Hirohito will be hanged as a war criminal. Influencing his ruling is his quest to find Aya, an…

‘RED 2’

‘RED 2’

Oh man! RED was so much fun! I’m really looking forward to this one. And it looks like we’re bringing in even more talent to the party. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins will be joining the cast.

This looks like it will have all the first film’s mix of comedy, and drama, and more comedy. That’s not a bad thing.

Of course, returning to their roles are Bruce Willis as Frank Moses, Mary-Louise Parker as Sarah Ross, Helen Mirren as Victoria, and John Malkovich as Marvin Boggs. RED 2 open August 2nd.

“The Good, The Bad, The Wise, The Wicked”

Here’s another TV Spot for Oz The Great and Powerful. I don’t think we’ve had this good of a look at the witches yet, it’s interesting for sure.

‘Hemlock Grove’ Netflix Original Series

‘Hemlock Grove’ Netflix Original Series

Yet again, it looks like this isn’t particularly my kind of TV Show.

I really wish Netflix and Hulu would get original shows that I care about. Maybe I’m just dreaming, but it’s a fun dream. On-demand original content that’s good. That is the “holy grail” so to speak.

Oh, and also, whether Netflix’s doing or someone else, this trailer is available in an embeddable format from YouTube, which is nice.

Be warned this trailer does have some disturbing images in it. Nothing as bad as, say, the red band Hansel and Gretel trailer I posted a couple weeks ago, but it has the tenor of an R…

‘42’ Trailer

‘42’ Trailer

Jackie Robinson was the first black Major League Baseball player. It also means he was the focus of much scorn, criticism, and racism.

If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s racism. So while I’m not a big fan of sports at all, I will likely see this film.

There does seem to be an overabundance of films dealing racism lately though. Not sure if I’m just happening to notice a lot more or if there is a lot more in the last couple of years.

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Red Band Trailer

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Red Band Trailer

Since I have posted about Hansel and Gretel and mentioned that I have been interested in seeing it and that I think it looks like it might be good (frankly it could go either way), I thought I would let you know about the red band trailer so that if you do happen to decide to go see it because, “TJ is going to see it,” then you know what you are getting yourself into.

Be warned, this trailer is a little bloody (though I’ve seen worse red band trailers), and there is an F-bomb in here. I expect the film to be a little bloody, just as this trialer is.

BE WARNED - THIS IS A RED BAND…
