Perhaps the most unappreciated blockbuster success of 2010, Disney’s live action sci-fi/fantasy is a faithful continuation of the TRON franchise with returning cast members and filmmakers. It boasts state-of-the-art computer animation set in live action; a film rich with drama, low on clichés.

Join TJ and Joe to talk about ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ being pricer to produce than ‘TRON’ and why that’s probably a bad thing, why ‘Argo’ won “Best Picture” at The Oscars even though ‘Affleck’ didn’t take “Best Director”, the new ISP “six strikes” policy to “combat” piracy and why it won’t work and why it is the wrong move, and the idea of remaking the ‘Star Wars’ prequels to make them, you know, actually good films. TJ is kind of in favor, and Joe isn’t really. And the meat and potatoes for this episode is ‘TRON: Legacy’, and by extension, some talk about the entirely lackluster original ‘TRON’. It’s interesting how TJ and Joe both feel ‘TRON: Legacy’ is a great film, while the original leaves so much to be desired. Tune in for a great conversation!

A scooper (whom we know and trust 100%) has sent us reactions to early screenings of the film happening at WB, addressing many of the common concerns that we’ve all had from the beginning.  Here’s his bullet points from the screening(s):

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.

- There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.

- The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.

Getting geared up for this one! But even if you aren’t looking forward to this film, you gotta watch this spot for Morgan Freeman’s voice, right? I’d like to get him to narrate my life:

Have you ever said or heard a word so much that it just loses all meaning and sounds weird? Well, that’s apparently what happened to the word amazing at the Oscars. There is apparently no other way to describe these events and hairdos.

I feel sorry for whatever editor had to sit through all that footage and put this together but it is… ama… I mean… awesome!

As much as I love Minority Report, even I have to admit some of the technology depiction is a bit ridiculous. Seriously, who wants to stand in front of a screen all day waving their arms and hands in tiring gestures, holding them up all day and using strange movements to get the computer to do what you want. And remember when John Anderton (Tom Cruise) went to shake someone’s hand and his files he was working with went flying across the screen with his hand movements? It’s just nuts and completely impractical.

Oh wow! I’m geeking out right now. I wish I had more time this morning, I would watch this whole thing. I’ve only made it 6:00 minutes in and I need to move on and get some other things posted this morning so I can get to other work, but I knew pretty quickly this is something you all would be interested in.
