‘Sharknado’ Coming to Theaters

‘Sharknado’ Coming to Theaters
Margaret Lyons - Vulture

Not that many people actually watched Internet touchstone Sharknado, even from the presumable comforts of their own homes, but Regal Cinemas is hoping a tsunami of irony will carry people to its theaters for a midnight screening of the Syfy movie on Friday, August 2. If you thought those “special” effects looked crummy on your television, just imagine how they’ll look on a movie screen! (Like they were made in Claris Works? Just guessing.)

I think I just threw up…

‘Super Cafe: Versus’

‘Super Cafe: Versus’

NAILED IT!

The guys over at HISHE have something to say about the upcoming Batman/Superman film. I’m telling you, I love these guys, they have so much fun and make such cool stuff.

I’m voting for the title, Man of Steel, The Punch from Space that Exploded Batman’s Internal Organs! But that’s just me.

Trask Viral Video Teases ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

Trask Viral Video Teases ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

So, back a few weeks ago when Bryan Singer said there was a few things he could do to fix the X-Men universe, he wasn’t kidding. The mid-credits tease for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past proved that by showing us that Magneto had his powers back and Professor X is alive and well. But that scene also had a pretty big tease for Trask Industries, which I’m given to understand is the big part of the X-Men universe.

Now we’ve got a nice viral video for Trask Industries, and I’ve said it before, this is my favorite kind of marketing, and I think it’s very effective. Check it out:

Disney Announces ‘Artemis Fowl’ Film Adaptation

Disney Announces ‘Artemis Fowl’ Film Adaptation
Karen Rought - Hypable

Disney announced yesterday that they had teamed up with producer Harvey Weinstein to bring Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl book series to the big screen.

The live-action film will be based on the first two books of the series, titled Artemis Fowl and Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. Screenwriter Michael Goldenberg, probably best known as the screenwriter for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, will be penning the screenplay, and Jane Rosenthal and Robert DeNiro will be producers as well.

For those who don’t know, Artemis Fowl tells the story of a 12-year-old criminal mastermind who…

Matt Damon Wakes Up — New Clip from ‘Elysium’

Matt Damon Wakes Up — New Clip from ‘Elysium’

We’ve got a new clip here from Elysium. It will be interesting to see what Blomkamp is up to here, no doubt. Friend and contributer Corey Poff is excited about the film, but I remain unconvinced that it will be a worthy film. But if my track record is any indication that should mean I’ll love it.

We’ll find out on August 9th. In the mean time, watch this clip and see if it does more for you than it’s doing for me. This is still failing to really capture my interst.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to Make 3 More Conan Films

Arnold Schwarzenegger to Make 3 More Conan Films
George Wales - TotalFilm

Arnold Schwarzenegger has previously mentioned that a new Conan The Barbarian movie is on his agenda, but apparently, that film might be the first of three.

That’s according to Fredrik Malmberg, CEO of Paradox Entertainment, the current holders of the rights to the Conan franchise…

“We have a great story,” says Malmberg. “Everyone loves it. This is a role that’s perfect for [Arnold] and he’s very involved with the whole Universal team. It’s the best team they have. Arnold has been very instrumental to bringing this together saying, ‘We gotta make a good Conan!’”

“I think if we do this…

The Wolverine — Review

4 of 5 stars
The Wolverine

This is one seriously messed up franchise. I mean, man, how hard is this thing to follow? It starts out simply enough — the first film, entitled X-Men, was set in the very near future. X2 follows up right on the heals of that film. Both of these first two entries into the X-Men franchise were directed by Bryan Singer, and they were most excellent. In fact X2 may be my favorite X-Men film to date.

Then a certain really nasty substance hit the fan, and X-Men: The Last Stand was released. This film was not directed by Bryan Singer, but by Brett Ratner, whom we should all agree must be expunged…

‘Escape Plan’ Trailer

‘Escape Plan’ Trailer

So I’ve seen this trailer a couple times now in the theaters, as well as watching it online a couple times. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me because I really can’t stand Sylvester Stallone and/or Arnold Schwarzenegger, but this film actually looks decent, it has actually captured my interest. I cannot say I have ever been interested in any films from either of these two before. I think what my problem is with them is that they are often cast in roles not well suited for them, or are involved in films so stupid as to actively reduce the IQ of anyone who even hears of it. This does not appear…

Eddie Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ - I think I Just Died

Eddie Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ - I think I Just Died
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Late last week you might have missed the news that the “Beverly Hills Cop” TV pilot wasn’t picked up — despite it testing apparently very, very well — but that the gears were turning once again on a new movie, thanks to the response to the TV show. This is no mere idle chatter, as Paramount are once again turning the gears on what we presume will be “Beverly Hills Cop 4,” and they’ve rounded up the star and some writers to making it happen.

Yes, at 52 years old, Eddie Murphy will still be working the beat as he’s now attached to the new “Beverly Hills Cop” movie, which will get a fresh…
