Marc Webb Confirmed for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

Marc Webb Confirmed for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’
Adam Chitwood — Collider

Sony Pictures is making big plans for its Spider-Man franchise and beyond.  When the studio announced plans to move forward with a Venom spinoff and a Sinister Six film in addition to further adventures in the proper Spider-Man series, it became clear that the studio was keen on building its own mini-universe not unlike Marvel’s interconnected franchises.  Now it appears that the plan involves releasing a new Spider-Man film every year for the foreseeable future.  That begins with 2016’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which the studio has now confirmed that Marc Webb will indeed be returning to…

‘Star Wars VII’ News: Adam Driver to Play Villain

‘Star Wars VII’ News: Adam Driver to Play Villain
Justin Kroll

Adam Driver is ready to travel to a galaxy far, far, away.

Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the “Girls” actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.

Driver, 30, is the first cast member to be revealed for Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm’s highly-anticipated “Star Wars” installment, which will open in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.

So, kind of rumor-y, and unconfirmed, but they seem pretty sure of themselves. I…

Benedict Cumberbatch Performs for Smaug

Benedict Cumberbatch Performs for Smaug

As with the first Hobbit film, I found the CGI in the second film to often be hit or miss. Some of it was best in class, and some of it was pretty terrible. This is a great disapointment in the wake of some of the best CGI work we’ve ever seen in the preceeding Lord of the Rings films.

But one element that was best in class was, indeed, the very dragon who’s name made it into the title of the film. Smaug’s execution as a CGI creation is nothing short of stunning. It really was, to me, as if they had found this creature in reality and filmed him so real was he on the screen. Therefore getting…

The Flood is Coming in new Trailer and TV Spot for ‘Noah’

The Flood is Coming in new Trailer and TV Spot for ‘Noah’

I have two little quibbles with the new full length trailer. First, what’s the deal with the apparent raining of fire? Secondly, the purpose of the ark was not to “protect” the innocent. The purpose of the ark was to save God’s people — the remnant he had chosen. But these are the exact sorts of things I’m expecting this film to get wrong, and if those are the only things I would have to quibble with after I see this film I will be pleasantly surprised.

It is interesting to see Hollywood tackling anything like this right now. Biblical films used to be a big thing many years ago but that has…

‘We’re the Millers’ Is Getting a Sequel — Removes All Hope for Humanity

‘We’re the Millers’ Is Getting a Sequel — Removes All Hope for Humanity
Germain Lussier – /Film

One of the biggest box office surprises of 2013 had to be Rawson Marshall Thurber‘s We’re The Millers. Made for just under $40 million, the comedy grossed $150 million in the U.S. and $270 million worldwide. That’s a huge number, so it’s no surprise a sequel is in the works. Stars Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Will Poulter and Emma Roberts are all expected to come back, but no deals are set, and New Line has hired Adam Sztykiel to write the sequel. Sztykiel wrote Due Date and Maid of Honor. Marshall Thurber is also expected to return to direct. No release date has been set.

This is why…

‘300’ — The Honest Trailer

‘300’ — The Honest Trailer

So there are the Honest Trailers that make fun of a perfectly fine film and you get a few laughs out of it. Then there are the Honest Trailers that make fun of films you enjoyed but hit entirely too close to home, and you laugh your guts out the whole time, but somewhat nervously. I think this one definitely falls in the later category.

Have a look:

Full Length ‘Godzilla’ Trailer

Full Length ‘Godzilla’ Trailer

You know, I think we may actually have the technology to do Godzilla right this time around. So far, there has been no snickering or cheesiness in anything I’ve seen promoting this film yet. And even though I can’t say I care very much for the Godzilla story, I reckon I’ll just have to see this film. I think this is the sort of reboot that could do very well.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and Sally Hawkins are the stars and the film makes its debut on May 16th.

‘Muppets Most Wanted’ World’s Most Dangerous Criminal Arrives in Latest Trailer

‘Muppets Most Wanted’ World’s Most Dangerous Criminal Arrives in Latest Trailer

I’ve been watching some of the original Muppet movies lately trying to get caught up and recapture my feel for what the Muppets are/were and what they are supposed to be. Some of those movies are pretty good, and some of them are downright awful. But one thing is for sure, you cannot underestimate the power of nostalgia. And these new Muppet films are sure to bring that. In addition this newest installment certainly looks pretty fun, so why not, right?

The film arrives on March the 21st, so watch the trailer and get ready for it.

Netflix and Comcast Sitting in a Tree…

Netflix and Comcast Sitting in a Tree…
Dan Rayburn — StreamingMediaBlog

On Sunday, Comcast and Netflix announced a commercial interconnect relationship between the two companies, which is in the very early stages of implementation, and as a result, many who clearly don’t understand how the Internet works are writing about the news. Those who don’t cover network infrastructure for a living should not be trying to explain the technical details behind today’s announcement. Articles from mainstream outlets like TechCrunch, WSJ, NPR, Time and many others aren’t even getting the basics right. Words like transit, peering, speed, bandwidth, capacity, etc. are being used…

New ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer

New ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer

This new Spider-Man series continues to look to my eyes and artistic sensibilities like cheep, and quite cheesy knock off of the potential locked up in the Spider-Man franchise. The jokes are innapropriately timed, the villain looks completely stupid, Andrew Garfield continues to be a very poor Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and in general I see no reason why I will like this second installment any better than the first.

The only redeeming quality is Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. But I don’t think even she can save this film just like she couldn’t the last time either.

Don’t hate me guys, I know I’m…
