Red Dawn (2012) — Review

2 of 5 stars
Red Dawn (2012)

How long would it take for the North Koreans to zip across the Pacific pond, invade the state of Washington, and set up camp? Well, the timeline is a little murky, but apparently not very long. Also apparently, the United States Military will do absolutely nothing about it. And best of all, a group of kids and their girlfriends led by one U.S. Marine will be able to do something about it.

And apparently, earth’s anchor or whatever holds it still will become unhinged when this happens, because the world shakes… A LOT! I was so dizzy and sea sick when this film was over I wanted to just lay…

There were no turkeys at this year’s Thanksgiving box office, as movie goers stuffed the box office like never before, leading to the highest five-day gross in the history of cinema with an estimated $288 million taken in.

Of course, there were also no real surprises either, with holdovers hanging on to the top three spots. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ led the charge with an estimated $64 million over the five-day extended weekend, followed once again by “Skyfall” in second place ($51 million) and “Lincoln” in third ($34.1 million).

I went to the theater this past…

The Dark Knight Rises comes to home entertainment December 4th, and the PR machine has been going non-stop to get us excited about it. One such effort is this excerpt from a featurette about Catwoman and her fighting style and how Anne Hathaway played the role of Selina Kyle.

‘The Hobbit’ Production Video

‘The Hobbit’ Production Video

Want a look at what’s going on only a couple weeks from the premiere? Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. have obliged and have this little 15 minute gem. It is incredibly fun to watch and see a few aspects of what goes on behind the scenes with a big production like this. There are so many moving parts it’s hard to keep them all straight.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premieres here in the U.S. on December 14 and you can bet I’ll be in my seat at the theater at my earliest opportunity. Until then, enjoy:

Breaking Dawn: Part II — Review

Breaking Dawn: Part II

The Twilight Series, love it or hate it, is now a part of our popular culture’s history. A lot can be said and a lot has been said about this series. Stephanie Meyer’s series of books seems to be very polarizing for most people.

For me though, I tend to fall on the side of loving it more than hating it. What I mean is this: I think the writing of the novels is fairly horrible. But as a sci-fi/fantasy nerd, I love the core story of this series. As such, though I liked the books and was able to read past the sometimes horrible writing, I enjoyed the movies perhaps more because I didn’t have…
