They Got Away With It

They Got Away With It

TJ and Chad discuss the latest in trailers, including ‘47 Ronin’, ‘Man of Tai Cih’, ‘Riddick’, ‘Thor: The Dark World’, ‘Agents of SHIELD’, and ‘Rush’. Obviously there’s lots to say and lots of opinions to be had here. Neither TJ nor Chad are holding out a lot of hope for the Keanu Reeves offerings. ‘Thor’ on the other hand is looking pretty good. There’s a big possible spoiler this week for ‘Avengers 2’ as well as some casting news involving James Spader as Ultron and Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Star Wars VII’. And TJ is worried about Pixar since Bob Peterson has been pulled from ‘The Good Dinosaur’ project. Kevin Spacey has a little bit to say about ‘House of Cards’ and the TV distribution model and TJ is all on board with that. And this week, the film in review is ‘Closed Circuit’ which wasn’t very good.

Killing An Avenger

Killing An Avenger

TJ chats with you about last weekend’s box office successes and faiures and which of those films deserved and/or didn’t deserve what it got. And there’s plenty of Marvel and Joss Whedon in the news. Kevin Feige over at Marvel seems to think we’ll be seeing more of The Hulk and Hawkeye around the Marvel universe. And we really want to know, will Joss Whedon kill off one of the Avengers? It’s a tricky proposition either way really, and TJ explains. The Chinese think that ‘Pacific Rim’ was nothing more than an American propaganda film. ‘Arrested Development’ is getting the silver screen treatment. TJ reviewed ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ and he did not like it! TJ also has a rumor that, if true, would be a fairly big spoiler for ‘Avengers 2’, make sure to listen for that! Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright have directed episodes of ‘House of Cards’ which will be airing next year. And of course, tune in to hear about what you might like to see this weekend!

Shadow Hunter

Shadow Hunter

This week, TJ hosts the show by himself and has all kinds of fun with all sorts of topics. Of course, as usual, there’s TrailerByte, taking a look at the latest film trailers, and TJ has lots of opinions on those. This week’s selection includes ‘Getaway’ staring Selena Gomez, Ethan Hawke, and Jon Voight, ‘The Book Thief’, which looks like an Oscar bid, the upcoming TV show ‘SHIELD’, ‘Thor: The Dark World’, ‘Divergent’, ‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer, a fan made ‘Man of Steel 2’ trailer, and a clip from the upcoming film ‘Riddick’ in which Riddick saves a puppy. And one of the rather large news items this week is Ben Affleck being cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming ‘Man of Steel 2’. Plus several items from Joss Whedon to discuss this week (as you do, you know, as a fanboy and all). And then there’s Hayley Atwell joining Kenneth Branagh’s live action ‘Cinderella’, which makes the film like mildly more interesting. And JJ plans to shoot ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ on film. This week’s primary review is ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’. TJ had a few choice things to say about just how bad this film is.

Ben Affleck is Batman

Ben Affleck is Batman

After discussing how the various films did at the box office last weekend, TJ ponders the deep questions, like, should Ewan McGregor get a character film for Obi-Wan? It’s a tough question actually, because on the one hand he was one of the few good things about the prequels, but on the other, what story is there to tell? Speaking of ‘Star Wars’, David Prowse does not like those prequels much. There’s also the hilarious and awesome ‘Star Trek Into Darkness Honest Trailer’! You’ll want to catch that! TJ also wrote a review of the biopic ‘JOBS’, and discussed it with Joe Darnell on this week’s MovieByte Podcast. There’s also a live action ‘Cinderella’ underway, and Haley Atwell is invovled in some capacity. Big news this week: Ben Affleck is going to be playing Batman in the ‘Man of Steel’ sequel. TJ is not at all sure what to think about this news. And of course, you won’t want to miss out on what you might want to see this weekend!

An Amazing Jobs

An Amazing Jobs

TJ and Joe are reunited! First they exchange some banter and inside baseball. Then they talk about a few trailers that have come up since the last episode including ‘Closed Circuit’, ‘Squirrels’, and ‘The Counselor’. Then, before getting to the two main topics in review, they discuss the idea of Mark Wahlberg wanting to play ‘Iron Man’, Ewan McGregor and ‘Star Wars’, and the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ honest trailer. In review this week is the new film ‘JOBS’ in which Ashton Kutcher does a fantastic job portraying Jobs. This is the film the two spend the bulk of their time on. But they do spend a little time talking about ‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ which TJ liked well enough, and Joe didn’t like at all.

Palpatine

Palpatine

TJ takes a look at what’s popular in the box office from the last weekend and how the rankings went down, as well as offering some opinions and short analysis of Elysium. The the question is asked, is the 3D fad over? TJ wants the answer to be yes. ‘Now You See Me’ has another magic trick up its sleeve, and that is that there will be a sequel. This seems highly unwarranted, but there you have it. Was Christian Bale offered $50 Million to reprise Batman? TJ thinks not. Ian McDiarmid is rumored to be returning to play Emperor Palpatine in the upcoming ‘Star Wars Episode VII’. This seems like a mistake unless handled very carefully. Stephanie Meyer thinks critics punished ‘The Host’ because of the ‘Twilight’ series. That may be, but it doesn’t explain the ultra poor reception at the box office. Do ‘Star Trek’ fans hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’? If they do, TJ thinks they are stupid. Mark Wahlberg would like a shot at playing ‘Iron Man’. This thought greatly disturbs TJ. And Blomkamp’s next film will be what he’s calling a cross between ‘RoboCop’ and ‘E.T.’, to which TJ says, “no thanks”. And of course, don’t miss what’s coming out in theaters this weekend!

This week a few items of interest include a comparison of the ‘Back to the Future’ actors age make-up, and what they actually look like now 30 years later, whether Mark Strong or Bryan Cranston should play Lex Luthor (or maybe someone else altogether), ‘Now You See Me’ is getting a sequel, Was Christian Bale offered $50 Million to play Batman again?, a rumor that Ian McDiarmid will be reprising his role as Palpatine in Episode VII, Natalie Portman has a *possible* ‘Thor’ spoiler, and do ‘Trek’ fans hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’? And the main review this week is ‘Elysium’ which TJ didn’t like and desperately wanted to be better. Fizz liked it better but he also had his complaints about it.
