It has finally happened, a little out of order perhaps, but it has happened none-the-less, and it was good. What is possibly J.R.R. Marvel’s The Avengers was one of the biggest movies of the year, but it wasn’t without sin. Cinema Sins lists all the sins for The Avengers (in 3 minutes or less) and hands down an ultimate verdict for the film.

I can’t say I agree with much of anything in this video, but it’s still pretty fun. And there were a couple things…

This is a pretty fun look at composer Michael Giacchino and some of his work as well as some of his philosophy and what his influences have been.

Personally, some of his work I have liked, some of it I have not. I can’t say, for instance, that Star Trek (2009) was my favorite Star Trek Score by any means (The Wrath of Kahn still has that honor), but it was decent enough. And this is fun.

Seriously, it doesn’t matter how you’ve felt about the films of 2012, the editing of this filmography reel (by @genrocks on Twitter) is superb. It makes this editor just a little jealous.

I don’t know much about who this is, but well worth the watch.

Total Film has a video of a few cast interviews from The Hobbit for us. In this video, the cast, and the director Peter Jackson talk about what they are most excited to see in the upcoming part II of The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The video features Peter Jackson, James Nesbit, Andy Serkis, Aidan Turner, Cate Blanchett, Joe Letteri, Richard Armitage, and Martin Freeman.

Eagle eyed fans watching the new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness for clues as to the narrative and mysteries of the film may notice something extra in the trailer at about 1:05/1:07 seconds into the excitement. As the camera pans towards John Harrison standing alone in presumably a brig of some kind, look to the right panels and the words “AreYouThe1701.com” appear.

Interesting. Signed up. Who knows where this is going and what it means.

One of the fun things we got with the IMAX showings of The Hobbit this past weekend was the first 9 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness. This 9 minutes will not be made available online, or even in standard theater screenings of The Hobbit, it is exclusive to IMAX.
