‘Thor 2’ and ‘Iron Man 3’ Spoilers

‘Thor 2’ and ‘Iron Man 3’ Spoilers
/Film

While Marvel has recently released official plot descriptions for Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, they’re both filled with lots of double speak. Sweeping claims that give absolutely no specifics about the characters or situations in the movie. This, of course, is by design because most people don’t want to read spoilers so far removed from the film’s release, especially when each movie is still shooting.

But there are the intrepid few who eat up spoilers like candy and an insider let a bunch of new details slip regarding the next two Marvel movies. Andrew Lawden, an actor and Marvel…

‘Stargate’ Wedding Ring - Revel in the Geekery

‘Stargate’ Wedding Ring - Revel in the Geekery
Neatorama

Hopefully a marriage joined with this ring will last more than 38 minutes. The Seattle-based company Wedding Band Designs says that the inner ring spins like a real stargate!

Okay, wow. I have no reason to link to this other than just the utter absurdity of such a thing. I love me some Stargate, but I sure wouldn’t be interested in a Stargate wedding ring.

Still, you have to marvel at the sheer nerdery involved here.

The Real Argo Details

The Real Argo Details
Movie Line

Calling Ben Affleck‘s Argo a “terrific thriller,” one of the six Americans who managed to escape the U.S. embassy just as student radicals took over the compound by fleeing into Tehran’s streets has set a bit of the record straight.

Mark Lijek, who’s portrayed by Christopher Denham in Affleck’s awards contender, spoke out after attending the film’s L.A. premiere, giving his detailed version of events. And while there are strong parallels with the film, which began its release last week and has garnered Oscar buzz, the timeline of real-life events had some significant departures from the…

Jack Reacher

Jack Reacher

I’m not sure how I have not heard about / paid any attention to this film, but the trailer sure makes it look fantastic. I shared with with Joseph this morning and he thought the same thing.

Synopsis:

When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.

Spielberg Sent Script to Fake ‘Argo’ Production Company

Spielberg Sent Script to Fake ‘Argo’ Production Company
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

Recounting his mission on the CIA website (via Reddit), Mendez provides every detail you might want to know (including a scan of the original poster for the movie—see below), but he also notes that among the scripts that crossed the desk of the studio—that as far as everyone was concerned was real—was a submission by a guy named Steven Spielberg. Could it have been “E.T.,” which he would eventually make in 1981 (and release in 1982)? At the time, he was coming off “1941,” and while he would be filming “Raiders Of The Lost Ark” during when most of the events of the film took place, remember…

Ian McDiarmid - Emperor of the Universe

Ian McDiarmid - Emperor of the Universe
TOR.com

Ian McDiarmid’s panel at New York Comic Con was absolutely charming, full of warmth and plenty of interesting facts and tidbits from our favorite galaxy far, far away. But one story in particular caught the audience, and that was how he got the part of Emperor Palpatine. We’ve got the whole tale right here, word for word.

Regardless of how you feel about Star Wars and George Lucas at this point, there is no question (at least in my mind) that Ian McDiarmid was and is the right guy to be Palpatine. It is obvious he plays the role with relish. And in any event, it’s a fun story.
