‘How it Should Have Ended’ Batman Style

‘How it Should Have Ended’ Batman Style

If there are plot holes in a film, the folks over at How It Should Have Ended will find them and hillarity will ensue. While I liked The Dark Knight Rises, I acknowlege fully that there were a few plot holes and How It Should Have Ended have stepped up to their duty willingly.

How It Should Have Ended highlights a few of the more gaping flaws that would have made for a much shorter film if corrected. There is way more awesome here than anyone should have a right to view in one single day. View at your own risk…

Also, this ‘making of’ was pretty fun.

Brave New Hair

Brave New Hair
fxguide

For Brave, the team at Pixar had to deal with a hero or rather heroine, who is on screen for almost every shot, but who needed wild, yet beautiful hair. The simulation department needed to develop a technique and approach not only viable on a hand crafted trailer shot, but something that could be used almost ‘out of box’ on most shots, or the film was simply never going to make its deadline.

Warning: this article contains plot spoilers.

The Princess Merida’s hair was almost a three year process to get correct. Earlier hair such as for the characters in The Incredibles had much more…

‘Avengers’ Blooper Reel and Extended Scene

‘Avengers’ Blooper Reel and Extended Scene
Slashfilm.com

The Avengers won’t hit DVD and Blu-ray until late September but some of the special features are beginning to pop up online, including a must-see 4-minute long blooper/gag reel. After the jump you’ll also find a two minute extended scene between Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) preparing and planning. While you can definitely see why this scene was shortened, its interesting to see the conversation that was lost on the editing room floor.

The blooper reel is not embedable here, so be sure to click through for that. The extended scene is… Read The Rest

Fringe Season 5 Trailer

Fringe Season 5 Trailer
TVline.com

SEASON 5 SNEAK PEEK | A trailer approved for “all members of the resistance” (watch it below) showcased some new footage – even though the series hasn’t officially started production yet. (How? The cast took time out to film some scenes for the reel, including touching moments between Peter and Olivia.) “[Etta]‘s everything I ever hoped she’d become,” said Olivia, to which Peter replied, “Just like her mother,” before deciding to fight back against the Observers by creating some of their own fringe events. Meanwhile, Walter declares, “I know how to rid our world of the Observers!” and “We…

The Observers

The Observers
TVline.com

When the Fox thriller returns on Sept. 28, the action picks up the day after Season 4′s 2036-set “Letters in Transit” episode left off — with an Olivia-less Fringe crew joining the war against the Observers.

The following exclusive teaser shows the invaders marching toward the screen as a series of voiceovers recount the team’s gradual understanding of the chrome domed enigmas.

I am really looking forward to this final season of Fringe. I’ve followed the show from the beginning and I’ve loved every minute of it. Very few missteps and very minor quibbles. I’m a little sad that this is…

Response to Whedon’s ‘Boycott’

Response to Whedon’s ‘Boycott’

This is such great fun. As I mentioned and linked to a couple days ago, Joss Whedon did a tongue-in-cheek video “asking” everyone to “boycott” a film called Sleepwalk With Me. In the snarky, sarcastic way that only Joss can do, he gave the film several comments (disguised as insults and reasons for boycotting). Whedon even asked fans to request the movie be screened in their local theatre so they could boycott the film as well (side note, my favorite part of the Joss Whedon video is the very end when he says, “remember when I made The Avengers?” Hilarious!).

Now the film-makers, Mike…

Pixar Short ‘Partysaurus Rex’ Clip

Pixar Short ‘Partysaurus Rex’ Clip
Slashfilm

When Finding Nemo 3D hits theaters next month, it’ll have a brand new Pixar short in front of it: The Toy Story Toon Partysaurus Rex. Directed by Mark Walsh, the clip features Rex (Wallace Shawn) starting a rave in a bath tube with music by BT. Seriously. A couple images were released last week and now Disney has released a clip that features a bunch of new toys. Check it out below.

I like Pixar shorts. I’m not too sure about this one, but I’ll have a little faith and trust that I’ll enjoy the whole short. Finding Nemo in 3D however, I could not possibly care any less about.

Here’s…

‘Order Up’ Is No Ordinary Pizza Delivery Story

‘Order Up’ Is No Ordinary Pizza Delivery Story

For all the high expectations we place on feature films it is easy to overlook shorts films stand to impress as well. Independents everywhere are responsible for various production values for TV shows, advertising, and often times are snatched up for new talent at the bigger studios. It’s no wonder that professional independents have a creative itch with simple and clever narratives to tell.

If you love film shorts and what they may inspire for the future of greater filmmaking, you will want to watch this highly creative and fun piece from the developers of the Red Giant film crew.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt on Robin

Joseph Gordon-Levitt on Robin
Slashfilm

Before the release of The Dark Knight Rises, every member of the cast was incredibly guarded when it came to discussing plot points. Now that the film is out and part of the public conscious, one would think all of what happens would be open for discussion, especially since most of it is pretty cut and dry. That’s not necessarily the case for John Blake, the character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has remained pretty silent in regards to the film’s ending. However, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the star of Looper not only talked about the ending, he talked about the future of the franchise.…

Looper

Looper

Joseph and I had a brief conversation about this upcoming film yesterday. Let’s just say I may give him a new nick-name like, the burster of bubbles, or the crusher of dreams… perhaps kite anchor…

In any event, he is of the line of thinking that it’s a fun premise but won’t amount to anything. My cynical side actually agrees. But I’d rather hold out hope. The trailer looks awesome, and of course the two lead actors are awesome, what could go wrong, right?

Well, lots could go wrong I suppose, but I’m still going to wait and see how it goes. For the moment, I’m trying not to get my hopes…
