No One Gets Taken in ‘Taken 3’

No One Gets Taken in ‘Taken 3’

But let’s get it from Liam Neeson, via Bleeding Cool. The actor was on the show hosted by Jonathan Ross in the UK, and explained “They called me up and I said “I’ll do it… but only as long as nobody gets taken.”

Neeson didn’t give up any more details, perhaps having been well-conditioned by the Christopher Nolan PR machine. Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen scripted the film, and we know that Maggie Grace, playing Neeson’s daughter, will also be back for a third turn. Kamen had actually explained this “no taking” policy for the third film back in 2012: “We’ve taken everyone we can take —…

Live Action ‘Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ In Production

Live Action ‘Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ In Production
Inside the Magic

There’s no case too big, no case too small. When you need help just call: Ch-ch-ch Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers!

The Disney Afternoon classic animated series is headed to the big screen in a film being described as an “origin story” for the popular crime-fighting critters. Much like “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and the recent “Smurfs” movies, the upcoming “Rescue Rangers” movie will feature CG characters in a live action world, not 2D animation like the old cartoon.

I remember watching this as a kid though I don’t remember a whole lot about it so maybe I’m not qualified to give my opinioin…

J.K. Rowling Has Lost Her Mind, Regrets Hermione and Ron Pairing
Andrew Sims — Hypable

In a new interview conducted by Emma Watson, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling drops a bombshell: She’s not so sure she should have put Ron and Hermione together.

The shocking revelation came in the new issue of Wonderland, of which Watson is a guest editor this month. The comments were obtained by The Sunday Times.

Rowling says that she should have put Hermione and Harry together in the Harry Potter series instead of Hermione and Ron, according to the publication’s headline, which reads, “JK admits Hermione should have wed Harry.”

Okay, now she’s just messing with us. Harry and Hermione…

Jesse Eisenberg Cast as Lex Luther — Jeremy Irons as Alfred

Jesse Eisenberg Cast as Lex Luther — Jeremy Irons as Alfred
Dave McNary - Variety

Warner Bros. Pictures has cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in the upcoming Superman-Batman film.

The castings, announced Friday, come two weeks after Warner pushed production on the untitled “Superman-Batman” movie to the second quarter of this year and set a release date of May 6, 2016 as the studio departed from a July, 2015 slot.

Huh. I don’t even… wait, what?!?

File this under, did not see this coming. But same with Affleck I guess. And again with Gal Gadot. Let’s just file this movie under, “least expected casting,” shall we?

After getting over…

Dave Chen Interviews Armond White about Steve McQueen Heckling

Dave Chen Interviews Armond White about Steve McQueen Heckling
David Chen - /Film

12 Years a Slave was my favorite film of the year, so I was pretty disappointed when I read in outlets such as The Guardian and Variety  that former /Filmcast guest Armond White had heckled Steve McQueen during the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. Sure, White was no fan of 12 Years a Slave, as demonstrated in our /Filmcast review of the film with him. But shouting down a man during an evening meant to praise him? It struck me as wildly inappropriate. The Chair of the NYFCC, Joshua Rothkopf, agreed and issued a public apology.

You can listen to some low-quality audio of the incident…

Armond White Heckles Steve McQueen

Armond White Heckles Steve McQueen
Entertainment Weekly

When McQueen was presented the best director award Monday night by Harry Belafonte, critic Armond White allegedly jeered McQueen as “an embarrassing doorman and garbage man.”

In an email to 12 Years a Slave distributor Fox Searchlight first posted online by Deadline, NYFCC chairman Joshua Rothkopf apologized to McQueen for “the crass bit of heckling” he encountered. Rothkopf said he was “mortified” that it came from one of the group’s own members and pledged “disciplinary action.”

I don’t care what he thought of the film, that was disgusting and classless.

ABC Plays Stupid, Limits Next-Day Availability of Streaming TV Episodes
Matt Mitovich - TV Line

ABC — which to date among broadcast networks has offered perhaps the most regular and wide availability of full episodes via streaming — is set to enact some limitations.

The network announced on its Watch ABC portal that starting Monday, Jan. 6, only those who can verify their cable subscription* — or those who use the Hulu Plus premium service — will be able to access full episodes the following day.

Those aiming to play morning-after catch-up without a valid cable service log-in or via Hulu’s free service will need to wait eight days after broadcast before new episodes become available…

‘Gilligan’s Island’ Film to Star Josh Gad

‘Gilligan’s Island’ Film to Star Josh Gad
Mike Fleming Jr. - Deadline

Remember Gilligan’s Island, the venerable 1960s TV series about seven castaways who wind up stranded on a tropical island after a torrential storm shipwrecks their yacht The S.S. Minnow? Warner Bros is charting a course for a feature film based on the series. It will be fashioned as a star vessel for Book Of Mormon‘s Josh Gad. Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez will write the script. Lloyd Schwartz, Ross Schwartz, Tracey Silvers and Cathy Silvers will be executive producers. They’re not saying what character Gad would play, but the title character seems a possibility, though he could…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Ratings Down Again

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Ratings Down Again
TVLine.com

ABC’s cliffhanger-filled Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this Tuesday slipped to a new series low, drawing 6.1 million total viewers and a 2.1 demo rating, per finals — down 12 percent opposite a fresh episode of NCIS.

Oh come on! Why must every show I like wind up getting canceled? I don’t think it’s something wrong with me, I think it’s something wrong with you guys! Now, I mean we’re still a ways from a cancelation, but this is not good news. If ratings keep trending down like this then us fans of the show are going to be in for some bitter medicine. And we can complain about the ratings system…
