Continuing its quest to sate subscribers’ appetites with a flow of original content, Netflix has announced a new original series, Sense8. Due in late 2014, it’s being developed by the Wachowskis of The MatrixV for VendettaCloud Atlas and Speed Racer fame, as well as J. Michael Straczynski, creator of Babylon 5. Details are thin, but the press release promises a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted with a ten episode run for its first season.

The Wachowskis, eh? Given the disaster that was Cloud Atlas I can’t say I have much hope for this sesries. But again, given…

J.J. Abrams Talks ‘Star Wars VII’

J.J. Abrams Talks ‘Star Wars VII’
Empire

Mention the name JJ Abrams and there’s one question that immediately barges all others aside: what’s the plan for Episode VII? While he was able to approach Star Trek with a detached objectivity, how will he, as a huge Star Wars fan approach Star Wars’ bold new era? Empire put that question to the man himself when we recently sat down with him at his Bad Robot offices in LA.

“I don’t know because we’re just getting started. So it’s a great question that I hope I’ll have a good answer to when I know what the answer is. There are infinitely more questions than answers right now, but to me,…

‘Defiance’ Trailer: Civilization

‘Defiance’ Trailer: Civilization

I reckon I’ll be checking this show out when it airs (assuming I can find a way to watch it, SyFy can be stupid about how they make shows available). I am not yet certain if it will be good, but it does look like it has the potential to be interesting.

In the year 2046, it’s a new Earth – with new rules. Over thirty years after various alien races arrived on Earth, the landscape is completely altered, terraformed nearly beyond recognition. To the town of Defiance, on what used to be St. Louis, comes the mysterious Nolan (Grant Bowler) and his charge, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas). As they…

‘Hannibal’ TV Series Full Trailer

‘Hannibal’ TV Series Full Trailer

Hmm, I don’t know. It has some actors that I love, but it looks like a pretty dark show. I may (or may not) give this one a chance. I’m sure the trailer is playing it up a bit.

The show stars Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Caroline Dhavernasm, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Laurence Fishburne, and Gillian Anderson. It will premiere on NBC on Thursday April 4th, 2013.

Be aware that this trailer may be a bit disturbing.

Joss Whedon Discusses Agent Coulson

Joss Whedon Discusses Agent Coulson
Angie Han - /Film

Well, Whedon isn’t spilling all the details, but he has since clarified one major piece of information. Coulson really and truly is back on the team in S.H.I.E.L.D., though we don’t know how quite yet. Hit the jump to keep reading.

Whedon and Gregg were at SXSW this past weekend promoting their latest project together, Much Ado About Nothing. Whedon first attempted to explain, jokingly, how Coulson might have recovered from his violent end in Loki’s hands. “I’ll tell you guys this. Heimlich,” he quipped. He then got a bit more serious, confirming that Coulson is alive and kicking again…

‘Revolution’ Mid-Season Premiere Promo

‘Revolution’ Mid-Season Premiere Promo

Watch the first minute from the mid-season premiere right now, along with a few comments from executive producer J.J. Abrams and creator Eric Kripke.

Warning, of course there may be some spoilers here, although I think everyone knew that the first minute of the mid-season premiere, picking up from were we left off in the cliffhanger mid-season finale, would work out pretty much this way. But it does leave us with yet another cliff hanger.

Anyway, I’m calling safe to watch, even if you are avoiding spoilers. But some people may not agree.

‘Hannibal’ Teaser with Mads Mikkelsen

‘Hannibal’ Teaser with Mads Mikkelsen

Hannibal is not really my thing. I watched a couple of the Anthony Hopkins installments, didn’t really like them. But I figured it was my duty to do so.

Now cometh a TV show about Hannibal Lecter. I’m not at all certain it is my duty to watch this one. But if Hannibal is your thing, feel free to go right ahead and watch it when it comes out.

Here’s the teaser trailer for the upcoming show staring Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as Lecter, as well as Laurence Fishburne, Gina Torres, Gillian Anderson, Eddie Izzard and Ellen Greene, with Caroline Dhavernas and Lance Henriksen.

S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series Info from Joss

S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series Info from Joss
TV Line

In addition to being very hopeful (and “very Joss,” as ABC boss Paul Lee has said), Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.— not surprisingly — will very strongly evoke its source material. “We’re trying very hard to be true to [Marvel’s] ethos and also to the structure of their universe,” Whedon shared. “So it is definitely a Marvel show.”

That said, Whedon says to expect “not a ton” of familiar faces from the Marvel-verse, though “there’s a little bit of talk of that” for any possible future the project has in primetime. “Right now, I want to involve people in the characters that we’ve created for the…

The Best of Both Worlds on Blu-ray

The Best of Both Worlds on Blu-ray

One of the best, or certainly one of the most well known episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation is The Best of Both Worlds, parts 1 and 2. Who could forget Locutus of Borg? And for the time, the special effects were outstanding. And man that cliffhanger. I remember it quite well. In my then eight year old mind, I just knew Captain Picard was done for.

Well, now we get to enjoy the two parter episode turned into one single feature in HD on Blu-ray. It’s pretty awesome stuff and here’s the trailer:
