‘The Call’ Trailer 2

‘The Call’ Trailer 2

Here’s a second trailer for The Call an upcoming film starring Halle Berry that looks like it has some potential. Berry plays a 911 call operator who recognizes the killer from previous calls. I’ll be checking this one out to see if it’s any good.

“I’m assuming, because I haven’t talked to the writers, that these movies would be about our offspring—like my character would be sort of in the Obi-Wan range [as] an influential character,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “When I found out [while making the original trilogy] that ultimate good news/bad news joke – the good news is there’s a real attractive, hot girl in the universe; the bad news is she’s your sister – I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to wind up like Sir Alec [Guinness]. I’m going to be a lonely old hermit living out in some kind of desert igloo with a couple of robots.’ “

Best of Both Worlds Theater Event
Trek News

To coincide with the release of the standalone “Best of Both Worlds” episode and the complete third season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray, CBS Home Entertainment and Fathom Events is bringing a special feature-length event to theaters this spring.

The “Best of Both Worlds” two-part episode will be shown in select theaters on April 25 at 7 PM.

I’ve got my tickets. I’ll be at the Regal Opry Mills Stadium 20 & IMAX in Nashville if you happen to be a reader of MovieByte in the area and would like to join me. Normally my wife joins me at events like this and we make a date…

‘Oz’ clip from Rachel Weisz on Jimmy Kimmel

‘Oz’ clip from Rachel Weisz on Jimmy Kimmel

I’m looking forward to see if this film is any good. My counterpart here at MovieByte, Joe, does not think it will be any good. I’m a bit more optimistic.

Jimmy Kimmel got an interview with Rachel Weisz, who plays Evanora — a bad witch. And he got to show a clip of Evanora talking to an apparently undecided witch (of whether she’s good or bad), Theodora played by Mila Kunis. I find it interesting, no doubt Joe would say it looks silly. Time will tell.

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Featurette

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Featurette

I have made it no secret that I think the upcoming film Olympus Has Fallen is going to be a good one. It’s hard to tell about these things sometimes, and I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. And for once, Joe and I agree that this is probably going to be a good one. That doesn’t happen often so, saddle up!

We have here a nifty featurette with a very few things we haven’t seen yet, and some actor interviews. Check it out:

Olympus Has Fallen Is set to open on March 22nd and you can be sure I’ll have myself firmly planted in a theater seat on opening night. Should be fun!

Ewan McGregor/Obi-Wan Standalone Film?

Now that Ewan McGregor has voiced his enthusiasm for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again, Disney should make it so. The actor, who’s out promoting Jack The Giant Slayer told MTV News that he thought reprising his role as the Jedi Master was “a good idea” and had clearly done some thinking about where an Obi-Wan standalone movie could fit into the about-to-be-rebooted Star Wars franchise

Call me cray cray, but I would actually go see this film. One of the (very few) redeeming qualities of the Star Wars prequels was Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. He was a true beacon of light in a very, very dark…

‘Monsters University’ - A Message from the Dean

‘Monsters University’ - A Message from the Dean

We’ve known about the website for Monsters University for some time. It’s pretty awesome and great marketing. I really, really love this indirect form of marketing. We’ve seen similar things with other Pixar films (such as Toy Story 3 with the Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear Commerical and the like).

This is exactly the sort of thing we have here in a promo video for Monsters Universty called, “A Message from the Dean.” The funny thing is I’ve made promos very much in this same genre and spirit for real colleges so this is just too funny!

Harrison Ford Reported to Return as Han Solo

Indiewire — The Playlist

As J.J. Abrams and company endeavor to keep the lid tightly sealed on whatever they’re cooking up for “Star Wars: Episode VII,” reading between the lines of reports over the past few months, it is starting to emerge that the lineage to the first trilogy of films will be pretty direct. Particularly is this bit of info turns out to be true.

Latino Review is reporting that Harrison Ford is set to return as Han Solo in “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Whether it’s just a cameo or something more something they don’t know just yet, but according to their sources, it’s a done deal. Naturally,…

New Trailer for ‘The Host’

New Trailer for ‘The Host’

The title on YouTube says this is trailer #3, but I’ve only seen, and can only find one other trailer so I don’t know what they mean by that. But in any event it’s a new trailer and I’m cautiously optimistic about this film.

Synposis:

What if everything you love was taken from you in the blink of an eye? “The Host” is the next epic love story from the creator of the “Twilight Saga,” worldwide bestselling author, Stephenie Meyer. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) will risk everything to protect…

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Will Be 3D
/Film

In the past 13 years, comic book fans have seen five movies based on Marvel’s huge collection of X-Men characters and stories. Some have been great, some have been bad, but all have been in two dimensions. That will change in 2014, as director Bryan Singer has confirmed that X-Men: Days of Future Past will be shot in 3D.

Nooooooooooooooo…
