‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Production Wraps - Video

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Production Wraps - Video
Matt Goldberg - Colider

For those who don’t know, 100 days is a longer-than-average time to shoot a film, and Webb finished it off with a flourish by posting a brief video of Andrew Garfield perched atop a building, looking over the city.  Take that, random citizen with a cell phone camera.

Yada yada. I really don’t care about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I know some of you, my dear readers do, and so I suffer through and post stuff about it for you. So here you go. Here’s the video:

‘Pacific Rim’ - ‘At the Edge’ TV Spot

‘Pacific Rim’ - ‘At the Edge’ TV Spot

Pacific Rim is coming and we can either go big or go home I guess. I’ve been a little hesitant about this film, I haven’t seen a lot before this to indicate that there may be something more than smash ‘em crash ‘em robot stuff. But this trailer does do a little bit more to add a human element to it, for me at least. Or maybe I’m just in an accepting mood right now.

I don’t know, I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. I was wanting and expecting to like Man of Steel, and it turned out to be not much more than smash ‘em crash ‘em, so maybe if I’m just seeing things backwards it’s a good…

‘The Counselor’ Trailer - From Ridley Scott

‘The Counselor’ Trailer - From Ridley Scott

So, Ridley Scott is making a new movie. His previous film, Prometheus has taken it’s hits although it has a decent Tomato Meter rating. And man oh man did I love Gladiator. I have yet to compile that top ten list of my favorite films, but surely Gladiator would be on it. And obviously the guy made Blade Runner which I have yet to see — an omission I intend to rectify soon. He’s made many other films which I have not yet seen but the guy is obviously a great director. And frankly, though possibly a little gory, this trailer looks absolutely amazing and I want to see this.

Rick Santorum Named CEO of Movie Studio

Rick Santorum Named CEO of Movie Studio
Angie Han - /Film

Rick Santorum may not be the president of the United States, but he’s about to become the king of Hollywood. Or a Dallas-based, Christian version of it, anyway.

The former Pennsylvania senator has been named CEO of EchoLight Studios, a production company that aims to make “honest, uplifting content” like 2011′s Soul Surfer, only without “water[ing] down the truth.”

Hmm. Okay. I am certainly not Santorum’s biggest fan, but maybe he can do something cool here, who knows.

Specifically, that means movies like EchoLight’s first theatrical release The Redemption of Henry Myers, a Western…

Mark Strong Rumored as Contender for Role of Lex Luthor

Mark Strong Rumored as Contender for Role of Lex Luthor
Alex Maidy - JoBlo

Cosmic Book News is claiming an exclusive that says director Zack Snyder wants British actor Mark Strong to play Luthor. Strong has prior comic book experience having played the villain in KICK-ASS as well as Sinestro in GREEN LANTERN. If Strong does get the part as Luthor, I would expect that to put the final nail in the coffin for Ryan Reynolds to play Hal Jordan in the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.

Strong would make an excellent Luthor. While I have a childhood connection to Gene Hackman as Luthor, his take on the villain never felt like much of a threat to Superman. Strong is physically more…

Six Clips from ‘RED 2’

Have I mentioned that I’m looking forward to this one a lot?

Obviously returning to the franchise are Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker and John Malkovich. Newcomers are Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough.

The first film was a lot of fun and I expect no different from this film. To speed us along in that way of thinking we have here six clips from the upcoming film.

RED 2 comes to theaters on July 19th.

‘Independence Day 2’ Does Not Feature Will Smith

‘Independence Day 2’ Does Not Feature Will Smith
ComingSoon.net

Following word this week of an official July 3, 2015 release date for 20th Century Fox’s Independence Day 2, director Roland Emmerich has dropped a few hints about what to expect from the much-anticipated sequel.

Will Smith cannot come back because he’s too expensive,” Emmerich told NY Daily News while promoting his latest, White House Down“but he’d also be too much of a marquee name. It would be too much.”

I smell a box office bomb in the making… why do they do this? WHY? If you can’t get the band back together, go make something new! Blurgh.

Well, I suppose there is…

‘JOBS’ Trailer

‘JOBS’ Trailer

Honestly, I don’t know how to style the text anymore. First it used to be jOBS, then it was JOBS, now I’m seeing it as Jobs. Well whatever, despite how messy the marketing is (and the capitols in the text styling), I’m looking forward to seeing this film, and this trailer has only made me want to see it that much more. Regardless of how you feel about Apple and/or Steve Jobs, there is no doubt that he changed the face of computers, smartphones, even electronics in general forever. And in many ways for the better (even I as a hardcore Apple fan would argue that in some smaller ways things…

‘The Smurfs 2’ Trailer

‘The Smurfs 2’ Trailer

The only question I really have is why on earth is this being made? It may be targeted at kids, but It looks atrocious, and it certainly does not look like the sort of humor I will want my kids to be mimicking.

As far as I can tell I’ll be skipping this one.

The evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants – and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs…

Helena Bonham Carter Will Be Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother

Helena Bonham Carter Will Be Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother
Germain Lussier - /Film

BrieflyKenneth Branagh‘s live-action Disney film, Cinderella, has just found its Fairy Godmother. Helena Bonham Carter will play the iconic role helping the title character (Lily James) fall in love with the prince (Richard Madden) in spite of the Wicked Stepmother (Cate Blanchett).

Oh yeah, I forgot there was an upcoming live action Cinderella. To say I’m thrilled would be a gross over-exaggeration. Let’s just say I am not sure if I care much about this film.

Also, Helena Bonham Carter as the “good guy” and Cate Blanchett as the “bad guy”. What will you tell me next? That there’s a…
