Morgan Freeman is Alive and Well

Morgan Freeman is Alive and Well

Last night I saw a couple people around the internet talking about the death of Morgan Freeman. Then I saw one of my Facebook friends liked a paged called R.I.P Morgan Freeman.

My first thought was, “my goodness how did I not know about this and why is it not on MovieByte?” So I started looking for the story. Turns out this is a complete hoax. Mr. Freeman has been the victim of a fake death scandal as he is actually alive and well.

The Examiner reports:

Morgan Freeman is a staple in pop culture so it only makes sense that word of his death would spread quickly. That is exactly what…

A Christmas Story 2

A Christmas Story 2
Screen Junkies

With relatively little fanfare, A Christmas Story has spawned a sequel, with Ralphie this time eying a car instead or an air rifle, which has the elements of a disturbing trend of materialism by the little imp.

No, no no no no no no no no. Please tell me this is a joke, a bad dream, not happening.

This looks like a truly horrible film.

Michael Clarke Duncan Dead at 54

Michael Clarke Duncan Dead at 54
TV Line

Oscar-nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away on Monday, seven weeks after suffering a heart attack, his fiancée Omarosa Manigault said in a statement to The Associated Press. He was 54.

Duncan was admitted to the hospital in mid-July after suffering a myocardial infarction, from which he never recovered; three weeks later, he was moved out of ICU but remained hospitalized.

Well, that’s a bummer. The Finder wasn’t my favorite TV show ever, but it was enjoyable and Michael’s Leo Knox was defintely a great character.

Bones exec producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan — a.k.a. Team Hathan — took time away from plotting their next grisly death to chat with reporters about the show’s upcoming eighth season (premiering Monday, Sept. 17 at 8/7c).

Herewith are the 10 scoopiest highlights from the call.

Don’t click through if you don’t want spoilers for this new season of Bones. That said, they aren’t earth shattering or big, revealing spoilers, just small ones.

Also, here’s one. Again, this is a spoiler.

This season’s landmark 150th episode is a “weird episode,” said Hanson. “It’s going to be an…

J.J. Abrams To Produce Futuristic Cop Drama
Deadline

With Fringe heading into its final season, the series’ JJ Abrams and J.H. Wyman have set up a new futuristic drama at Fox.

In a competitive situation, the network has nabbed the untitled Warner Bros. TV/Bad Robot-produced project with a pilot production commitment. It is described as an action-packed buddy cop show, set in the near future, when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. Wyman is writing and will executive produce with Bad Robot’s Abrams and Bryan Burk. Kathy Lingg is co-exec producing.

Umm, okay… this will either be really good or really…

Hollywood Stars Support Obama

Hollywood Stars Support Obama

More from my “politics in Hollywood” series, here’s three stars speaking at the DNC.

Oscar-winner George Clooney lent his voice to President Obama’s campaign for a video introduction Thursday night to close out the Democratic National Convention, but it was a trio of leading ladies — Kerry Washington, Scarlett Johansson, and Eva Longoria — who gave the DNC a rousing jolt of star power in Charlotte, NC.

Washington, who manages political crises on ABC’s Scandal, introduced herself as “not just as an actress but as a woman, an African-American, a granddaughter of immigrants who came…

New HBO Film Reveals Hitchcock’s Dark Side

New HBO Film Reveals Hitchcock’s Dark Side
Movieline

Many movie enthusiasts grew up on reruns of Alfred’s Alfred Hitchcock Presents television show. Call it ‘a twisted treat’ of mine that whenever I have need to take a few sick days off work I have a self-enforced Alfred Hitchcock Presents watching marathon. It’s one of the few programs that’s guaranteed to keep my mind off my dismal condition, and it helps that characters in his stories are going through worse problems.

Alfred Hitchcock was a remarkable filmmaker in his day, and for his craft he is one of my all-time favorite directors. Suspense is a tricky genre, and Alfred hit the mark…
