Goldblum and Pullman in for ‘Independence Day 2’
George Wales - Total Film

Roland Emmerich continues to drip-feed information about the forthcoming Independence Day 2, confirming that Jeff Goldblum will return for the long-awaited sequel.

During a Q&A with Movies.com, the director and screenwriter revealed that Goldblum would be reprising his role as jittery computer hot-shot, David Levinson, alongside fellow returnee Bill Pullman.

Well la de da, I’m dancing for joy. I still say the film will be nothing without Will Smith. Maybe I’ll be surprised, eh?

‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ International Trailer

‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ International Trailer

This film could be a fun fantasy flick. I still need to see the first one, which I plan to do before this film comes out. It does have Nathan Fillion in it, which is always fun, and apparently it also has Stanley Tucci, which nearly makes it a must see.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters continues the young demigod’s epic journey to fulfill his destiny. To save their world, Percy and his friends must find the fabled and magical Golden Fleece. Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle), they battle terrifying…

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Production Wraps - Video

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Production Wraps - Video
Matt Goldberg - Colider

For those who don’t know, 100 days is a longer-than-average time to shoot a film, and Webb finished it off with a flourish by posting a brief video of Andrew Garfield perched atop a building, looking over the city.  Take that, random citizen with a cell phone camera.

Yada yada. I really don’t care about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I know some of you, my dear readers do, and so I suffer through and post stuff about it for you. So here you go. Here’s the video:

Live Streaming Tonight at 7:30 PM

Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that we had to move our start time for the show back an hour to 7:30 PM Central Time. We’ll have a guest with us, and I have some follow up on Man of Steel (no, I’m not going to hate on it too much more) and some funny Superman stuff in general. Plus, I’ve got a couple of trailers lined up for a new edition of TrailerByte (if you don’t know what TrailerByte is, shame on you, that means you didn’t listen to last week’s show!).

And of course, we’ll also be talking about Monsters University. As always, pop some popcorn, pull up a chair, fire up your browser…

Monsters University — Review

4 of 5 stars
Monsters University

Pixar has become a bit of a household name these days. When we think of cute, family friendly films that are well made, have a great message, and are fun for all ages, Pixar is what we think of. I would contend even that the likes of the films we have seen from Pixar until very recently have been far better than anything Disney ever put out.

There are really 3 things Pixar is known for, two of those are the bulk of the ingredients that make a good Pixar animated film in my opinion.

  1. A Really, REALLY good and compelling story.
  2. A really good message behind the story, well executed…

‘Pacific Rim’ - ‘At the Edge’ TV Spot

‘Pacific Rim’ - ‘At the Edge’ TV Spot

Pacific Rim is coming and we can either go big or go home I guess. I’ve been a little hesitant about this film, I haven’t seen a lot before this to indicate that there may be something more than smash ‘em crash ‘em robot stuff. But this trailer does do a little bit more to add a human element to it, for me at least. Or maybe I’m just in an accepting mood right now.

I don’t know, I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. I was wanting and expecting to like Man of Steel, and it turned out to be not much more than smash ‘em crash ‘em, so maybe if I’m just seeing things backwards it’s a good…

Legendary May Part with Warner Bros.

Legendary May Part with Warner Bros.

Legendary Pictures and its chief Thomas Tull have a long relationship with Warner Bros. While the production company was founded in 2000, in 2005 Legendary made a deal with WB to produce up to 40 features over seven years. You might have heard of their first collaboration: Batman Begins. In fact, Legendary has had a hand in WB’s biggest superhero films: Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, as well as Superman Returns and Man of Steel,300, and Watchmen. Legandary has also been part of another little WB success story: theHangover films.

Now the deal between Leegendary and Warner Bros. has…

‘Independence Day’ Honest Trailer

‘Independence Day’ Honest Trailer

Well, I guess it’s about time we got one of these seeing how the sequel is finally on it’s way. By the way, anyone else notice that Roland Emmerich has trouble getting his sequels made?

I wasn’t a huge fan of Independence Day so that may explain why I enjoyed this honest trailer a lot more than perhaps some of you might.

‘The Counselor’ Trailer - From Ridley Scott

‘The Counselor’ Trailer - From Ridley Scott

So, Ridley Scott is making a new movie. His previous film, Prometheus has taken it’s hits although it has a decent Tomato Meter rating. And man oh man did I love Gladiator. I have yet to compile that top ten list of my favorite films, but surely Gladiator would be on it. And obviously the guy made Blade Runner which I have yet to see — an omission I intend to rectify soon. He’s made many other films which I have not yet seen but the guy is obviously a great director. And frankly, though possibly a little gory, this trailer looks absolutely amazing and I want to see this.

Rick Santorum Named CEO of Movie Studio

Rick Santorum Named CEO of Movie Studio
Angie Han - /Film

Rick Santorum may not be the president of the United States, but he’s about to become the king of Hollywood. Or a Dallas-based, Christian version of it, anyway.

The former Pennsylvania senator has been named CEO of EchoLight Studios, a production company that aims to make “honest, uplifting content” like 2011′s Soul Surfer, only without “water[ing] down the truth.”

Hmm. Okay. I am certainly not Santorum’s biggest fan, but maybe he can do something cool here, who knows.

Specifically, that means movies like EchoLight’s first theatrical release The Redemption of Henry Myers, a Western…
