‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Posters
Slash Film

With Wreck-It Ralph, not only is Disney making a movie about video games, they’re paying homage to video games. In addition to the story of Ralph (John C. Reilly), Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) and fictional games like Fix-It Felix Jr., Sugar Rushand Hero’s Duty, real life games all exist in this world. There’s Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, all of the classic games we grew up with in the Eighties and Nineties.

A new set of posters for the film has been revealed that focuses on those tangental characters and fans of video games are surely going to…

‘Les Misérables’ Moves to Christmas Day Opening

Universal has seemingly decided that the new film adaptation of Les Miserables, starring Hugh JackmanRussell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway and directed by Tom Hooper (The Kings Speech), makes a good Christmas present. (A present for Universal, at least.) The film has been pushed back to a December 25 opening.

Joseph recently took a look at the ‘Les Mis’ trailer, be sure to check that out as well.

I want to see this film, but I doubt I’ll see it on Christmas Day, that’s family time.

‘Bones’ Season 8 Premiere Recap and Mini Review

‘Bones’ Season 8 Premiere Recap and Mini Review

Bones returned Monday night with the premiere of season 8. As a cable cutter, I could not have watched it until Tuesday via Hulu (or any other non-broadcast means). As it was, I was unable to watch it on Tuesday, catching it on Hulu via my Apple TV last night instead.

The season 8 premiere picks up three months after Brennan (Bones) took off with her dad and daughter Christine because she was suspected of murder due to implanted evidence by serial killer and super computer wizard genius — who can do things with computers not even possible in the real world - Christopher Pelant.

Snow White and the Huntsman — Review

4 of 5 stars
Snow White and the Huntsman

“By fairest blood was it done, and only by fairest blood can it be undone.”

This is not the Disney Snow White you may remember from your childhood. Snow White and the Huntsman straddles a much more fine line between gritty realism and a fantastical, magical world of evil queens, magic, dwarves, trolls and more. This rendition of Snow White is ultimately a tale of good versus evil. There is a natural order to things, and Snow White understands and uses that order to great effect. In fact there is quite an allegorical nature to this film. At the beginning, evil appears to be triumphing (the…

“There’s certainly talk of it and I know there’s a script being played around with, but Downey’s a busy boy and I’m a busy boy so we’ll see,” he said. “But we want to [do another one]. We’re a very happy team and we have a lot of fun and we also think there’s still a lot of legs in the duo.”

‘Looper’ Soundtrack

The Ink Slinger

Innovative. That’s the first word that springs to mind as I listen to the score for Looper. Composer Nathan Johnson didn’t exactly go for the traditional approach – and I, for one, am delighted that he didn’t. According to one interview, his stated goal was to write music evocative of Looper’s futuristic, wormhole-riddled world; a world which is, quite literally, falling apart. In pursuit of that goal, Johnson and his team got creative with their instrumentation… like, really creative. They scavenged hardware stores for plastic tubing and sheets of metal. They captured the audio of…

‘Revolution’ Starts Strong

‘Revolution’ Starts Strong
TV Line

Leading out of an amplified The Voice (which with 13.4 million total viewers and a 4.6 demo rating was up 9 percent week-to-week) and admittedly facing little competition, NBC’s post-apocalyptic drama drew 11.7 million samplers while netting a 4.1 rating, making it the highest-rated network drama debut in three years (since ABC’s V) and the Peacock’s best drama premiere in five years (since, oof, Bionic Woman).

Alright, I suppose I should check this show out. I’m a little behind. I have not yet been able to view the Bones Season 8 premiere yet for instance, but I’ll try to get to some…
