This new Spider-Man series continues to look to my eyes and artistic sensibilities like cheep, and quite cheesy knock off of the potential locked up in the Spider-Man franchise. The jokes are innapropriately timed, the villain looks completely stupid, Andrew Garfield continues to be a very poor Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and in general I see no reason why I will like this second installment any better than the first.

The only redeeming quality is Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. But I don’t think even she can save this film just like she couldn’t the last time either.

I had this in my saved items to post to MovieByte at some point but never got around to it. Then one of our fans on Facebook reminded me of it so I moved it to the top of the queue after watching it again. Even though it’s a couple weeks old it’s definitely worth checking out for some more information, some cast interviews, and some behind the scenes looks at our next upcoming Marvel film.

I’m really liking the look of this one.

I believe a film like Monuments Men is important and has cultural significance, or at least it can have. And I certainly believe that preserving the art of the ages is a worthy endeavor.

On top of a worthy endeavor and the historical context of a film based on true events, a lot of star power was also brought to bear in this film. You’ve got George Clooney in the directors chair and acting, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, and Cate Blanchett. Seriously guys, don’t watch this unless you want a huge spoiler to be revealed to you. Now, keep in mind this is the official marketing campaign and Marvel has proven themselves very adept with spoilers. And an argument can be made — quite successfully made I might add given how they handled the whole Manderin thing with Iron Man 3 — that if Marvel floats it out there they want you to know because they have something up their sleeves. Still, this trailer contains a possibly huge plot detail that, if it turns out to be true and played straight, I wish I did not know going in.

NBC is reviving Heroes, Tim Kring’s popular sci-fi TV drama about people with superhuman abilities, as a miniseries in 2015. The network revealed the comeback Saturday night, saying it has ordered 13 episodes “for a new standalone story arc” called Heroes Reborn.

Before the show debuts on TV in 2015, NBC plans to launch a digital series to introduce the plot and characters. No cast members have been announced, though some may end up being from the original series’ four seasons, which aired from 2006 to 2010.

Well, speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy, would you like to meet each of your protagonists? We don’t have much, but there is a thirty second clip for each of the primary protagonists that may help just slightly for those of you, again, like me who don’t really know a whole lot yet. So these should at least help a little as you try to get up to speed before the film arrives on August 1st.

If, like me, you really don’t know much about Guardians of the Galaxy, Hal Rudnick and Co. have some great conversation on the subject for you. I found it fun and informative as someone who has no clue what this franchise even is.

The trailer, while a little strange — I mean really, a talking, gun weilding racoon, I’m supposed to take this seriously? — my curiosity has definitely been arroused and I’m excited to see what Marvel has in store for us!
