On Insult, Injury, and Insanity

The guys discuss their like/hate relationship with ‘Elysium’—what went wrong with the film and why it matters. Does it live up to ‘District 9’ for director Neill Blomkamp? While exploring it from all facets right down to its absurd foundation, the guys breakdown its origins in liberalism and video games, and its all so surprising biblical themes.

Fun: R2D2 Cameo in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness

Fun: R2D2 Cameo in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness
Angie Han - /Film

Episode VII will be J.J. Abrams‘ first time directing a Star Wars movie, but technically it won’t be his first time working with a Star Wars character. The self-admitted Star Wars fanboy slipped an R2-D2 cameo into 2009′s Star Trek, and we’ve now learned that the droid made a return appearance in Star Trek Into Darkness.

Here it is, R2 being sucked out of the hull breach while the big E is at warp:

Poor little guy.

‘World War Z’ Sequel is In the Cards (video)

‘World War Z’ Sequel is In the Cards (video)

We’re certainly talking about it, yes. We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent just developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work.

So what that means to me is that, yes, we’re moving forward with a sequel if we can get the studio to hop on board even though the film was not as big a money maker as they might have hoped. It was still a money maker so we hope they will go forward with it.

Josh Brolin Was Up for the role of Batman

Josh Brolin Was Up for the role of Batman
ComingSoon.net

Josh Brolin has confirmed to The Huffington Post that he was up for the role of Batman in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman/Batman movie, a role which instead went to Ben Affleck.

Asked if he had any conversations with Snyder about the role, Brolin said, “We did. I didn’t have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn’t turn out. It’s OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I’m happy for Ben.”

I’m not sure by how much, but I think this would have been a better choice. Then again, I’m not really the right person to ask…

‘Iron Man 3’ Comes to iTunes

‘Iron Man 3’ Comes to iTunes
Rene Ritchie - iMore

Iron Man 3, the Shane Black-directed sequel to last year’s phenomenal Avengers movie, is now available on iTunes and comes complete with iTunes Extras. What’s more, a JARVIS app is coming next week for iPhone as well. Jarvis was originally Tony Stark’s - very human - butler. When Marvel made the Iron Man movie, however, they re-imagined JARVIS as an artificially intelligent computer system to run Tony’s house, and eventually his armor. Think Super Siri.

Head on over and grab it, guys! This was one of the better movies this year so far.

Possible Title for ‘Star Wars VII’?

Possible Title for ‘Star Wars VII’?
Gabriel Gray - TalkBacker

Treat this as a rumour, but as of right now I have two sources confirming this information as accurate. So with that in mind, I bring it to you.

Here is what I heard from my source:

“…title I’m hearing is A New Dawn.”

So I sat on this for a few days and contacted a number of sources and awaited a response, then not long ago I received contact from another of my sources confirming it.

“there will be many potential titles by now, but yes that is a title I have heard mentioned. So do with that what you will.”

The mails I received from the source who gave me this information, also…

Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’ is Tense In a Good Way

Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’ is Tense In a Good Way
Drew Taylor - The Playlist

“It’s like the last half hour of ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ but for the whole movie.” That was someone’s description of “Captain Phillips” when we quizzed them about the film earlier today. The film, which stars Tom Hanks as the titular captain of the Maersk Alabama, a ship that found itself under siege by Somali pirates back in 2009, was directed by “United 93” and “Bourne Ultimatum” filmmaker Paul Greengrass, whose last feature, the troubled Matt Damon vehicle “Green Zone,” proved an underwhelming and costly flop. But by all accounts from those who have seen it, “Captain Phillips” is the director…

On the ‘Riddick’ Set with Katee Sackhoff

On the ‘Riddick’ Set with Katee Sackhoff

Katee likes the big firearms apparently. If you’ve been on the fence about heading out the theater to see Riddick perhaps this little teaser will help. If you saw and liked the film, then you will probably also like this video, espeically if you, like me, tend to like to see cool stuff from various actors in various films. And let’s face it, the former Battlestar Galatica star stole pretty much every scene she was in.

On Cumberbatch and ‘Star Wars VII’

On Cumberbatch and ‘Star Wars VII’

So the question on everyone’s mind now is, will Benedict Cumberbatch be in Star Wars, or won’t he? If he is, or even if he’s in negotiations, he and his are sure downplaying it all.

Niki Stephens — JoBlo.com →

To all of you ladies and gentlemen, you may feel a little saddened to hear that those rumors aboutBenedict Cumberbatch taking a role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII are just rumors. While promoting THE FIFTH ESTATE, the actor told Access Hollywood this:

“This is the simple truth. J.J. [Abrams] and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made.…
