Favorite Fun Futon Films for February

Favorite Fun Futon Films for February

Alright guys, I know we said we were going to talk about The Wrath of Kahn on this week’s episode of The MovieByte Podcast, but we’re changing it up a little. From my conversations with Joe, I am not at all convinced that I will be satisfied with an episode talking about that film with only Joe and myself.

I am trying to lock down a guest that I think may help me out a little for such an awesome film and once I have him we’ll do a Wrath of Kahn episode then. It will probably be a special insert episode and will broadcast live at a different time so keep your eyes open for that.

April is going to be a big month for Star Trek on Blu-ray. First up is season three of Star Trek: The Next Generation coming on April 30th, along with a special stand-alone release of the two-part episode “Best of Both Worlds” on the same day. In addition on the same day Paramount is releasing a number of Star Trek feature films that were previously only available in box sets. And finally “Best of Both Worlds” is also getting a theatrical release.

I can’t get tickets yet in Nashville for the the theater event, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled. And I’m excited for Season 3. It is one of…

‘Iron Man 3’ “Extended” Look

‘Iron Man 3’ “Extended” Look

Hahahahahahahahaha!

Actually, as funny as this is, there is some good stuff here to see. I’m excited for this film, I think it will be better than the shambles that was Iron Man 2. I’m thinking there’s actually a good story to tell here with Tony Stark and the emotional aftermath of the events from The Avengers. The thing about Iron Man is that he started off as not so great of a guy, and that gives him a lot of places to go, to grow. It makes for great story.

Here’s your “extended” look:

Video On Demand - Feb 5, 2013

Three notable new releases to streaming and video on demand that you might be interested in watching:

Skyfall

Not the great film that critics seem to rave about, but it’s a fine film and worth watching. It has great cinematography, great acting and character development, and more. And even though I was a bit disappointed in Silva, he’s still a good villain. So the film is worth watching. Read my review here. I gave it 3.5 of 5 stars.

Argo

You should most certainly watch this film. This made it into my personal top ten films of 2012 and it’s a…

Netflix Full Season Release Strategy

Netflix Full Season Release Strategy
/Film

I understand it, and I get why Netflix thinks this is the way things should be. Netflix has ton of television programing available, and their users binge watch seasons in the matter of days. They have the stats to prove this. Why change whats been working for them? Why not challenge the status quo of releasing an episode a week with an original series?

I’m all about challenging the way things are done… but does it make sense?

A fine question, and as much as it may surprise you to hear it, I don’t think I like the idea of releasing all episodes of a season at once. I think Peter makes…

Pascale’s Shot by Shot for new ‘Star Trek’ Trailer

Pascale’s Shot by Shot for new ‘Star Trek’ Trailer
TrekMovie.com

The Super Bowl Commercial for Star Trek Into Darkness is just half a minute but mixed in with stuff we saw in the previous two trailers is some new (and very interesting) stuff, along with some new (and very intriguing) dialogue. Below TrekMovie has a full shot-by-shot analysis of the commercial. We also have caps of what was in the ‘extended’ version available on the mobile app. As always, beware of Spoilers.

I think the thing that caught my attention the most when I watched the trailer was this:

GOODBYE ENTERPRISE ALERT?!
The above (and below) shots are somewhat reminiscent of…

You can be one of the first to see Star Trek Into Darkness by attending a “Fan Sneak” showing on the evening of Wednesday May 15th. You can buy tickets now exclusively via Fandango. The early screenings were announced by Paramount via the new mobile app which added a new Fandango button. If you click that button you are lead to a list of local screenings.

I could not get it to work through Fandango’s website, but going through the Star Trek Into Darkness app worked for me. So I’m in, and I even have a fairly decent seat (IMAX being reserved seating and all). Awesome!

Redesign all the Things (for ‘Transformers 4’)

Redesign all the Things (for ‘Transformers 4’)
/Film

Mark Wahlberg is carrying over from Pain & Gain to the cast of Transformers 4, and is part of a movement to assemble a new cast for T4 to lead a new set of films. We know that Bay wants to do a few new things with the fourth installment, and that same interview that talks about being influenced by the working scale of Pain & Gain the director says that “we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom” for the latest sequel.

...

We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first…

Superbowl Trailers

Superbowl Trailers

It’s pretty safe to say that I hate sports. Well okay, some sports are tolerable when I’m the one doing the playing. But I cannot stand watching sports on TV, and I can barely stand watching most sports in person on the sidelines. I know that this puts in me in the bottom 10th of a group of less than 1% of the citizens of the United States of America, but I can’t help it. I just don’t like sports and never have.

But one good thing did come from the Super Bowl…

THE GODADDY COMMERCIAL!!!

Um, no. No that was just disgusting, wrong, and stupid! No, we got a whole bunch of trailers! And…
