Sam Raimi‘s new prequel to The Wizard of Oz opens in a couple months, and to complement the most recent TV spots and trailer, we’ve got some new high-res photos that show off the characters played by James FrancoMichelle Williams, and others.

Oz: The Great and Powerful follows a magician (Franco) whose escape from a small town con game turns into a path to a new world, as he pilots a balloon that is blown off course into Oz. There he meets a trio of witches (Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz) and a few odd characters such as the monkey Finley (voiced by Zach Braff) and China Girl…

Melinda Snodgrass on ‘Django’

Melinda Snodgrass on ‘Django’
MelindaSnodgrass.com

Christopher Waltz who won an academy award for his performance as the chilling and charming Nazi Colonel Han Landa in Inglourious Bastards is just wonderful as the German/dentist/bounty hunter in Django.  Charming, funny, kind, but with a dark streak.  Jaime Foxx really comes into his own in the second half of the film, and Samuel Jacksons turn as an old plantation slave is amazing.  Leonardo diCaprio has a wonderful time playing the villainous plantation owner.  The script is good — Tarantino has a real flair for how to tell a story, and he makes sure that one small thing that happens…

Les Misérables (2012) — Review

4 of 5 stars

For a film such as this, I felt it necessary to bring in a female perspective. While I enjoyed this film for what it was, I felt inadequate to really talk about and review this film. My wife, being a lover of classical literature, stage plays, and such like things, seemed like a good fit to review this film.

Enjoy.

Les Misérables (2012)

When I first found out that Les Miserables The Musical was coming to the big screen, I was overcome with excitement. Ever since I saw the musical on stage around 12 years ago I have absolutely loved it. It has definitely been the best adaptation of the book that I have seen. Already being familiar with the musical, I was greatly anticipating the movie as I felt they would do it justice. And I must say that it lived up to my expectations. I greatly enjoyed it and felt that it both was true to the book by Victor Hugo and the stage musical.

Because this is a movie version of a musical, this…

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Red Band Trailer

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Red Band Trailer

Since I have posted about Hansel and Gretel and mentioned that I have been interested in seeing it and that I think it looks like it might be good (frankly it could go either way), I thought I would let you know about the red band trailer so that if you do happen to decide to go see it because, “TJ is going to see it,” then you know what you are getting yourself into.

Be warned, this trailer is a little bloody (though I’ve seen worse red band trailers), and there is an F-bomb in here. I expect the film to be a little bloody, just as this trialer is.

BE WARNED - THIS IS A RED BAND…

Ashley Tisdale Joins ‘Left Behind’ Cast

Ashley Tisdale, who emerged as the dizzy blonde on the Disney Channel, became the first female cast member to star in the fourth in a series of films based on the bestselling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, Left Behind.

Former Disney Channel starlet who will play one of the leads in Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 5 is joining Nicolas Cage and Chad Michael Murray. The actress will play Chloe Steele, the daughter of Cage’s Ray Steele character.

I think my head just exploded. No litterally, I have no head now.

There is one word echoing around in the area where my head used to be.…

Batman Unmasked

Batman Unmasked
NextMovie

Oh, sure, everyone thinks they know what Bruce Wayne looks like. But for different fans, that has a very different answer. Today’s fans, of course, think of Christian Bale as Batman, while their parents probably think of Michael Keaton. And Grandpa? Why, he’s all about Adam West.

Now, though, the whole family can stop bickering over Batman (finally!) thanks to this great composite photo, which takes the faces of all five big screen Bruce Waynes and merges them together into one new, distinct and yet instantly recognizable face.

I have no idea why this is so fun, but trust me, it is.…
