Trailers For TNG Remastered Season 7, and ‘All Good Things’ Series Finale

Trailers For TNG Remastered Season 7, and ‘All Good Things’ Series Finale

It’s that time again: time for me to write up a post about the latest addition to Star Trek remastered. But this time, it’s the final season of my favorite overall Star Trek series. The remastering of The Next Generation will now be complete. And as usual, there will also be a stand-alone release. It became quite a common thing to have two parters throughout TNG’s run, and often, they make great feature length “films”. I really loved the trend for two parters — it foreshadowed what was to come in DS9, with full season and even show arcs. While we (regrettably) never got season arcs with TNG,…

Trailer for Season 2 of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ — Returns September 23

Trailer for Season 2 of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ — Returns September 23

I know a lot of you didn’t like the show, but I certainly did. And I’m quite looking forward to season 2. And if you didn’t like the show, you may be interested in tuning in to season 2 because it does look like they’re changing the tone a bit. Season 2 looks to me like it will be darker. It makes sense given where The Winter Soldier and the episodes of Agents of SHIELD that were after The Winter Soldier left the universe. Yes, Guardians of the Galaxy is technically in this same universe and it was a lot of goofy fun. But it’s pretty disconnected from what else is going on in the universe…

Meet Baymax From Disney’s Upcoming ‘Big Hero 6’

Meet Baymax From Disney’s Upcoming ‘Big Hero 6’

Let me help you get even more excited for November 7th. That’s the date that Disney will release Big Hero 6 into theaters. I’m quite optimistic about this upcoming film. Marvel is involved as well — I mean, Marvel is owned by Disney, but they have maintained their own identity and operations. And they are working with Disney on this animated comic book film. I believe we are going to see the fingerprints on it. Additionally, remember that Disney has been putting out better animated films than Pixar. I have no proof, but I believe this is directly related to John Lasseter taking over at…

Everything Wrong with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ in 13 Minutes or Less

Everything Wrong with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ in 13 Minutes or Less

You know, it’s funny. I saw this come through my RSS feeds and I thought, That’s weird, I didn’t remember that I subscribed to CinemaSins but whatever. And so I clicked on it and watched it. And then I thought, huh, these are better than I remember. And then I thought, wait, did Jon Bailey always do these? I finally figured it out. Screen Junkies switched with Cinema Sins. Screen Junkies did an “Everything Wrong With…” video, and CinemaSins did an Honest Trailer.

I loved the “Everything Wrong With…” from Screen Junkies and didn’t like CinemaSins Honest Trailer proving to me that it’s not…

The Giver — Review

4 of 5 stars
The Giver

Books have a lot going for them when they become so successful that public schools make them required reads. The Giver is the first in four novels by Lois Lowry that have earned a place on such a list in America, Australia, and Canada. And only now, after 21 years of popular bookshelf demand, The Giver makes an appearance in cinemas.

Without a doubt, this social science fiction novel has its detractors. Some critics take it to lack “originality” and “literary merit.” Such concerns matter to the critics, as you well know. For what it’s worth, children and young adults usually enjoy the story,…

Critics don’t like it, it didn’t get good marketing, and it hasn’t made a boatload of money. So now despite all that the question before us, is ‘The Giver’ a good film? Is it worth your time and consideration? Joe and TJ say yes. The film is worth seeing and makes for great discussion. Frankly, Joe and TJ can’t understand why the critics are rating it so poorly. The film is not without its flaws, but what film doesn’t have a few flaws? Also up for discussion, ‘Machete Kills’ Writer will pen the upcoming Michael Bay produced film ‘Cosmic Motors’ — that sounds like a whole lot of stupid, an ‘Underworld’ reboot is on the way to us, ‘Steve Carell’ will headline an ACME focused live action ‘Looney Tunes’ film, TJ has friends who have not seen ‘Star Wars’, Chloe Moretz blames her film failures on piracy (because: SCAPEGOAT!), and ‘Full House’ is returning to TV.

Warner Bros. has set Machete Kills screenwriter Kyle Ward on their upcoming Michael Bay-produced adaptation of concept artist Daniel Simon’s book Cosmic Motors. The book, subtitled “spaceships, cars and pilots of another galaxy,” is described on Simon’s official site as follows:

Come explore the vehicle designs of a far away galaxy called Galaxion where futuristic concepts exist in everyday life. Nine different spaceships, pods, race cars, giant trains, warships and balloons from various planets of the Galaxion system are shown from concept to completion. Daniel Simon is an established…

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Rules The Labor Day Box Office

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Rules The Labor Day Box Office
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Labor Day weekend tends to be slow at the box office, and accordingly, no new film managed to break through to the top of the list of biggest earning films this weekend. Mostly everyone is doing something other than going to the movies, but those that did go to the theatre chose one of the biggest movies of the year.

Disney and Marvel closed off the summer on a high note, with “Guardians Of The Galaxy” returning to number one and earning the title of highest grossing film of 2014 domestically. The superhero flick took $17 million at home, and continues to make serious coin, with the…

‘Underworld’ Reboot on the Way

‘Underworld’ Reboot on the Way
Cain Rodriguez — The Playlist

Each successive Spider-Man movie has earned less at the box office than the previous entry, calling into question the theory that audiences want more of the same. Despite this, THR reports that Lakeshore Entertainment has decided to go down a similar path and reboot the “Underworld” series.

The vampires-vs-werewolves franchise is perhaps now best remembered for giving Kate Beckinsale fangs and machine guns, thereby turning her into an action star. Of course, film fans will always remember the series for spawning director Len Wiseman and unleashing him upon the world. To date, “Underworld”…

Labor Day

Labor Day

Today is Labor Day here in the U.S. I don’t have an exact official calendar of the holidays that I observe for my MovieByte posting schedule. But if I need a break or am extremely busy and a holiday comes along, sometimes I take it. Today is one such day. As you all know, the day to day operations of MovieByte are a one man show — that’s me. I have a lot on my plate and I’m going to use Labor Day to try to get caught up on some stuff.

I hope you guys have a fun day grilling, eating man food, and generally having a great day off. I’ll catch you tomorrow! And thanks for reading!
