Spoiler Alert! The Idiot’s Guy to SPOILERS!

Spoiler Alert! The Idiot’s Guy to SPOILERS!

Spoilers is something we who like movies and books and things think about almost as part of our thought processes. Most of us draw different lines about how much is a spoiler, what the etiquette is, etc. But it’s a fascinating conversation. We all draw a line somewhere that when someone spoils something, they’re just being a jerk. But then, maybe you’re one of those who spoils stuff for other people and you should stop it.

But where is the line, what are the rules, how long do you wait, when can you talk freely about stuff? Hal Rudnick of Screen Junkies and his co-hosts attempt to answer the…

‘Big Hero 6’ Full Trailer

‘Big Hero 6’ Full Trailer

So it’s here — the full trailer for Big Hero 6. I don’t have a lot to say about this film, but I know everyone is interested in this upcoming collaboration between Marvel and Disney Animation. It’s intriguing, even if it’s based on a relatively unknown property. This trailer definitely makes it looks quirky and probably pretty funny.

Look for the film in theaters on November 7.

A Few Details About ‘Heroes Reborn’

A Few Details About ‘Heroes Reborn’
Tor.com

Despite the reboot premiering sometime next year according to plan, Kring was still pretty vague on details. “It takes place in a post-season 4 universe,” he said. “So it will tie into some of the ideas that were left dangling.”

And yet, it’ll also be treading new ground, through the introduction of an almost entirely new cast. Kring explained that they wanted to bring back a few of the core characters “really only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world.” They’ve signed on Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), the man with the horn-rimmed glasses, “because he was a character…

Two ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spots — “Nothing goes over my head… I would catch it”

Two ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spots — “Nothing goes over my head… I would catch it”

Are you guys excited enough yet for Guardians of the Galaxy? Well if you are not, let me help — although I don’t know why you wouldn’t be ecstatic about this film yet. It’s a Marvel film, it’s based on a comic book series, it features a talking (and sarcastic) raccoon, a walking tree, a green alien, an alien who doesn’t understand metaphors, and Chris Pratt. Every single thing we’ve seen about this film up to this point tells us that it’s going to be awesome. At this point, there is so much awesome overload that I’m worried about expectation management. But I just have this feeling that the…

Trailer for ‘12 Monkeys’ TV Series — A Complete Reimagining

Trailer for ‘12 Monkeys’ TV Series — A Complete Reimagining

I really didn’t like the film Twelve Monkeys starring Bruce Willis. So color me a little bit skeptical about this TV series. I felt like the film had no story to tell, no real moral to convey, and no interesting characterization. I know people are going to argue this with me, but when you stop and think about it, I think you will know, deep down in your heart, that I am right.

So I watched this trailer with quite a bit of skepticism. But I do think this looks far more interesting and enjoyable than the film. I doesn’t look like it’s going to tell much of the same story as the film for that…

‘Kite’ Trailer Starring Samuel L. Jackson

‘Kite’ Trailer Starring Samuel L. Jackson

Back in January, I posted about this interesting looking film coming up starring Samuel L. Jackson. It’s based on an anime film from 1998 and looks extremely violent and gritty. And yet, despite that, I feel like there might be something here. The very short description from IMDb reads:

When her cop father is killed, a young woman tracks the murder with the apparent help of his ex-partner.

That’s not a lot of information. From my previous posting, it appears that she’s doing so with the help of some drugs that really puts her out of it but makes her a super hero.

Also, I’m really digging…

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the latest in the reboot of the Apes franchise. I really love it for a few reasons.

But first, newsflash: I’m new to the franchise. I know, I know. This series of films is a cult classic, and you have to be a pitiable noob if you haven’t at least seen the original.

I’ve actually watched documentaries that addressed Apes at length. I have seen interviews with the cast and directors. I’ve watched a really decent review of the first film in this reboot. Friends have told me I have to watch at least the good ones.

So my excuse is that I simply don’t find apes…

Don’t Confuse Me With the Facts

Don’t Confuse Me With the Facts

Join TJ and Clark to talk about one of the better summer block busters: ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. Sure, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ may have been a pretty decent film, but this one far surpasses it. It’s intelligent sci-fi with a lot of emotional resonance and great story telling. Also up for discussion are ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ performing better than initially thought over its lifetime, the trailer for ‘Exodus: Of God’s and Kings’ which is the upcoming film from Ridley Scott, Disney’s upcoming live action ‘Dumbo’ which sounds about like its name implies, and Jon Favreau’s upcoming live action ‘The Jungle Book.’

Lucas Shaw Explains Why ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Is Not a Flop

Lucas Shaw Explains Why ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Is Not a Flop

Edge of Tomorrow was a pretty fantastic film (my review here, and Chad’s and my podcast review here), but it just didn’t seem to have a lot of steam at the box office. This has been a great source of distress and discouragement to me about the state of cinema in general. When great films come out and movie goers do not see and supporr them, we all loose.

Well, turns out, while it’s still not the biggest hit here in the U.S., overseas it has had a very different life — raking in $256 million so far. That brings the worldwide total up to $350.4 million. As much as I complain about sequelitis…

Scarlett Johansson Is Helping the Authorities Out? — Two New Clips from ‘Lucy’

Scarlett Johansson Is Helping the Authorities Out? — Two New Clips from ‘Lucy’

The marketing material for this film is practically pouring out at this point. They must be worried that the film won’t do well and are trying to pump as much interest in it as they can. As far as I know the film is not based on any pre-existing franchise and that may be part of the paranoia for putting this much out for it in advance. The studios believe these days that sequels, reboots, retellings and the like are far more likely to make them money. And unfortunately it’s hard to argue with the numbers that back up those assumptions.

I’m willing to give this film a good solid chance…
