Hello Father

Hello Father

Maleficent is not receiving a lot of praise from critics, but Chad and TJ both think this is a little unfair. The film may not be destined for Oscar season or anything, but it was quite a good film and quite an enjoyable experience. Also of interest: set pics from ‘Star Wars VII’ OF THE MILLENNIUM FALCON. Guys, seriously! We’re living in a time when new ‘Star Wars’ is being made. And they’re building a Millennium Falcon Set. Also some casting news in the form of Lupita Nyong’o's and Gwendoline Christie. Secret Cinema is recreating Hill Valley from ‘Back to the Future’ in London and Chad is probably going to get to go. Lucky dog. And Warner Bros. has moved ‘Jupiter Ascending’ to February of 2015… you know, where all the good films are released… sigh.

Secret Cinema To Recreate Hill Valley From Back to the Future

Secret Cinema To Recreate Hill Valley From Back to the Future
Louise Jury — London Evening Standard

Key scenes from Back to the Future will be recreated at a secret location in London this summer for epic screenings of the time travel movie.

Organisers of the next production in the Secret Cinema presents… brand will build the entire town of Hill Valley, California, where teenager Marty McFly, as originally played by Michael J Fox, embarked on his dramatic journey from 1985 back 30 years to when his parents were young.

A time machine modelled - like that in the film - on a DeLorean DMC-12 will be on hand to help transport audiences between the different time zones through secret alleys…

Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie Join ‘Star Wars Episode VII’

Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie Join ‘Star Wars Episode VII’
Russ Fischer — /Film

Those who were upset that the first big wave of Star Wars Episode VII casting did not include more women can breathe a bit easier. Lupita Nyong’o (Non-Stop, and winner of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave) and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) have just been added to the cast.

Both women have been tipped for roles in the film, and they are both excellent additions to the cast. Lupita Nyong’o proved her abilities as a powerhouse performer with gut-wrenching scenes in 12 Years a Slave, for which she took home an Oscar.

In other words, everybody chill, you guys,…

Maleficent — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Maleficent

Once upon a dream, Disney brought us the tale of Sleeping Beauty, but according to their latest film, they may not have been entirely truthful in that story they told us, and now they’re here to set the record straight.

To be sure, the film has its detractors. Maleficent‘s box office success is only eclipsed by the exceedingly harsh reviews — though not nearly as harsh as Angelina Jolie’s cheek bones as the titular character.

The film proposes to us that things in the once upon a time may not be all that we have been led to believe. And so we are taken on a journey through the childhood of…

‘Maleficent’ Is Angelina Jolie’s Biggest Opening Weekend So far

‘Maleficent’ Is Angelina Jolie’s Biggest Opening Weekend So far
Rodrigo Perez — The Playlist

So it’s no real surprise that herDisney hit “Maleficent” was number one at the box-office this weekend taking in $70 million — her biggest opening weekend ever (and it’s her first live-action film in four years to boot). The movie has taken off internationally as well and earned $44 million on Thursday and Friday for a total of $100 million all weekend. Even though “Maleficent” wasn’t loved by critics (a 51% RT score, our review here), audiences didn’t seem to care and in fact, the PG-rated movie was given an A Cinemascore. It’s a crowded summer, but if “Maleficent” has legs it could hit the…

Trailer for ‘Left Behind’ Remake Starring Nicholas Cage

Trailer for ‘Left Behind’ Remake Starring Nicholas Cage

This is not going to be good. Without going in to the terrible theology behind all this, it looks like a souped up version of the same cheese that powered the original Left Behind. You can put as much paint as you want on something, but in the end, painting a Ford Pinto is not going to make it a good car. So don’t expect a new coat of paint on the Left Behind series to do anything for the film either.

But I found this trailer good for a little bit of fun this morning — although I never really outright laughed. I think Grimmace might better describe my reaction to this trailer.

‘Star Trek III: The Search for Spock’ At 30

‘Star Trek III: The Search for Spock’ At 30
Steve Vivona — TrekMovie.com

I’ll always remember June 1, 1984 as the day I became a Star Trek fan.

We all know that was the day Star Trek III: The Search for Spock was released, and while it is hardly the high watermark of the film series, I believe it occupies a special place in every Trek fan’s heart (and if it doesn’t it should). It certainly does in mine.

Yes, it has some plot holes you could drive a truck through (not nearly as bad as say, The Undiscovered Country), and its title is a dead giveaway for its resolution, but for me, Trek IIIis the first of the films that really focuses on the familial bond between…

Liam Neeson in ‘A Walk Among The Tombstones’ Trailer

Liam Neeson in ‘A Walk Among The Tombstones’ Trailer

Hey look, it’s Liam Neeson playing the grizzled action hero, who would have thought?

But seriously, this does look kind of good. Pluse the writer, Frank Scott, wrote one of my favorite films — Minority Report, so maybe there’s something good here.

The film arrives in theaters on September 19. Check out the trailer!
