After an aggressive lobbying campaign, Roberto Orci has emerged as the clear frontrunner to replace JJ Abrams and direct Paramount‘s third installment of the Star Trek series. I’m hearing they’re in talks. This comes after Orci parted company with longtime partner Alex Kurtzman (though they continue on TV projects). This would amount to another first-time director taking on a massive project, which has been hit (Snow White And The Huntsman) and miss (Transcendence, John Carter, 47 Ronin).

In breaking news, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” has been renewed by ABC for a second season to begin in Fall 2014 while “Marvel’s Agent Carter” has been picked up to series to debut on ABC.

Yay! This of course makes me very happy. And I’ll certainly be interested to find out what Agent Carter will be about and if it will be any good.

I can’t say I’m all that excited for this film. I finally got around to seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes and it was fine. And I’m sure this one will be fine. But I am having a hard time seeing how I’m going to like this film as much without a couple of the characters that made the previous film what it was. Yes, Ceaser was a big part of that film, but so was Will Rodman. Why isn’t he in this film. It’s kind of annoying. Press screenings for X-Men: Days of Future Past took place this week in preparation for the upcoming junket, and now, the first reactions have emerged via Twitter, as they always do. As you’ll see below, there seems to be unanimous praise for the film, with every single Tweet exclaiming how incredible and amazing it is.

Like I said earlier today, a lot of people are saying good things about this film. Cant wait!

There’s also starting to be some buzz from critics and pre-screenings that it’s as great a film as it looks. And I couldn’t be more excited to see the franchise back in good hands under Bryan Singer.

Because Will Ferrell had such a successful time adapting “Land Of the Lost,” he’s now teaming up with buddy Adam McKay to (exec) produce a new animated version of “The Flintstones.”

To be fair, Ferrell didn’t produce or help develop “Land Of The Lost,” but that stone-age comedy was slapped with a PG-13 rating and bombed hard back in 2009. And now “The Flintstones” seems to be headed towards a PG-rating.
