‘Lucy’ International Trailer

‘Lucy’ International Trailer

I continue to be intrigued by this film. I hear it’s a bit of a myth that we only use 10% of our brains, but I like the idea anyway. And that idea is present here — that if we could tap into the rest of our brains that we might be able to do a lot more cool things. In the real world, I don’t see any of this happening. But it makes for a fun fantasy film.

Here’s the synopsis, followed by the new trailer.

Set in a futuristic world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts and corrupted cops, Lucy (Scarlett Johansson), a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, 2069 AD, works as a drug mule…

‘Roberto Orci’ Possibly “Confirmed” to Direct ‘Star Trek 13’

‘Roberto Orci’ Possibly “Confirmed” to Direct ‘Star Trek 13’
Brian Drew — TrekMovie.com

BREAKING: Variety is reporting that Roberto Orci, co-screenwriter and producer of the previous two Star Trek films, has been tapped to direct the third film in the rebooted franchise.

When approached by Variety to confirm, Paramount, Skydance Productions, and Orci’s representatives had no comment.

So not official, but it’s certainly looking like Orci will direct the next Star Trek film.

Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in First Clip from ‘Jupiter Ascending’

Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in First Clip from ‘Jupiter Ascending’

Now that I have tried to excise the memory of that horrible film the Wachowskis made preiously: Cloud Atlas, I think I’m ready to give them one more chance to make a great follow up to the greatness of The Matrix. They’re on probation as far as I’m concerned, but I know they can make a good film if they want to. Their score-board isn’t great though because they also made the next new Matrix films. But they were not terrible like Cloud Atlas was.

Still, this film looks exactly like what I had hoped Cloud Atlas was. A thrilling new sci-fi concept with originality and a fun but well put…

Rio 2 — Review

3 of 5 stars
Rio 2

It seems to me that it would be difficult to make a sequel to Rio. I’m not sure I would have tried.

Rio is pretty universally loved. It has a 72% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and that’s not too shabby, really. But I thought it a well deserved approval. Rio has heart and story, and it’s quirky and funny. Jesse Eisenberg’s Blu is one of the more lovable animated characters I’ve had the privilege of seeing in recent times. And in fact that voice cast of the entire film absolutely perfect in every conceivable way. You just can’t get any better.

As well, even for an animated musical…

Godzilla Attacks in New Clip

Godzilla Attacks in New Clip

The opinions coming from the pre-screenings are a bit mixed but I continue to hold out hope that this will be a decent film. It will be a monster movie for sure, but I hope there’s a good story to dive into. This clip isn’t really about the story though. It’s about a big giant monster rising up out of the ocean for an attack.

The film opens this Friday, May 16.

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Extended Trailer

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Extended Trailer

Oh man, this looks GOOD! I love good sci-fi, and Tom Cruise usually delivers on the sci-fi action/thriller front. Couple that with what looks to me like a smart story. Any time a story feels like it’s almost hard to explain in the trailer, there’s a good possibility that it’s a good one. It’s always possible of course that it’s an overcrowded story mess, but I don’t think that’s the case here. It does add up to me, and I’m fully on-board with this premise. So June 6 can’t get here soon enough.

The End of ‘Revolution’

The End of ‘Revolution’
Eric Goldman — IGN

Revolution has come to an end. NBC has cancelled the series, from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Eric Kripke and Jon Favreau, and it will not be back for a third season.

The series had debuted to very strong ratings in its first season, but lost steam as it progressed. A move to Wednesdays this season, away from its great lead-in on Monday, The Voice, unfortunately proved the show hadn’t developed a very large fanbase of its own.

I have mixed feeling about the cancelation, but I am completely unsurprised by it. I loved it at least half the time. But lately its felt a little unfocused.…

Harrison Ford Considered “Co-Lead” of ‘Star Wars VII’

Harrison Ford Considered “Co-Lead” of ‘Star Wars VII’
Germain Lussier – /Film

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has a great article about the Star Wars Episode VII casting news. In the article, “sources with direct information about the project who spoke on condition of anonymity” confirmed a bunch of behind the scenes tidbits we’d long since begun to take as fact. Primary among those is that Harrison Ford‘s Han Solo is considered a “co-lead” of the film, along with “three of the younger actors.” Which of the three? We still don’t know.

EW also confirmed casting is still ongoing, the main cast members have been attached for a while, re-writing Michael Arndt‘s…

‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ — 2 Clips and a Featurette

‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’ — 2 Clips and a Featurette

I’m not sure what’s up with the first clip using the track Ron’s Victory from the soundtrack of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but it’s a little bit strange. I guess that’s the problem with being so familar with certain various soundtracks. Other than that though, How to Train Your Dragon 2 looks fantastic and I can’t wait to see it.

Perhaps somewhat infamously to my readership, I have only recently watched How to Train Your Dragon and I thought it was fantastic. So I hope this one is just as good!

Take a peak at these two clips, and watch the featurette to get your appetite…

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Spoiler FAQ

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Spoiler FAQ
Rob Bricken — io9

What is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 about?

It’s about a man gifted with extraordinary powers who, through hard work and perseverance, finally manages to get his girlfriend killed.

This is awesome and you should click through and read every. single. word!

A couple more samples:

Okay… but that’s good, right?

Well, yes and no. Yes because Harry has access to all his father’s crazy secret projects — which, by the way, is literally in a folder titled “Secret Projects” — and no because that neurogenetic disease that his father succumbed to at the age of 50-something decides this is the week to…
