Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the “Girls” actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.

Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to play the villainous pirate Blackbeard in Warner Bros.’ forthcoming Peter Pan origin film “Pan.”

If true, the latest Star Wars Episode VII rumor blows the lid off everything we expected the sequels to be. Though co-writer and producer Lawrence Kasdan has long said the new films won’t follow any stories from the Extended Universe, almost everyone assumed the main characters — all believed to be young adults — would somehow be related to the Skywalker and Solo families. A few weeks ago came the rumors that Atonement and Hanna star Saoirse Ronan had auditioned for a role in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. The actress has now confirmed to Sky News that she has auditioned for a part in the film but also made the comment, “so has everyone.” Ronan wouldn’t mention anymore about the film though, saying the bosses would “chop off her head with a light-sabre.”

 Well, that’s that rumor confirmed then. Whether she’ll get a part in the film, or what part she read for is still anyone’s guess at this point.
