Joss Whedon Would Like To Clarify

Joss Whedon Would Like To Clarify
Joss Whedon - Whedonesque.com

I was going to let it slide, but I’ve got this sour taste in my mouth. (Mmmm, lemonade!). Some facts are not facts. I’m not going to go into the whole thing, but jeepers, I’m not getting $100 mil on Avengers 2. If I were, I would come on this site and laugh and laugh and laugh. I’m not making Downey money. I’m making A LOT, which is exciting. I’m not pretending to be a poor farmer, an Everyman, an ANYman. But that number is nuts.

In case anyone was wondering, there you have it — at least according to him, he is not making the same amount of money as Downey. And man, that guy can be…

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ TV Spots with New Release Date

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ TV Spots with New Release Date

Each of these new TV spots have a little tiny bit of something or other we have never seen before, as well as advertise the fact that the film opens one day earlier here in the U.S. than previously announced.

You will, as always, probably want to beware of spoilers, though my position is, if the studio and official channels are releasing stuff, you kind of have to watch it — or at least I have to watch it. I am compelled to watch. I cannot resist!

So here are 4 new TV spots.

Clever Hasbro ‘Star Trek’ Commercial

Clever Hasbro ‘Star Trek’ Commercial

Man, you’ve got to admit this is a pretty clever commercial. Where I a kid again, I’d be begging mom and dad to get these for me. I mean really, how cool is this? And I love how the normal warnings tacked on to the end of toy commercials like these are cleverly woven into the “story” being told.

Of course, when I was a kid, I built all my Star Trek toys out of LEGO blocks from scratch. There was a certain amount of creativity there that isn’t here when you have everything pre-mad. Still, pretty fun commercial.

Cool Video - Transporting a Baby (Star Trek)

Cool Video - Transporting a Baby (Star Trek)

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the stuff people do. I am not at all a fan of the new Star Trek transporter effect that J.J. and co. have come up with (nerdy I know to care about such details), but this video is pretty fun. Someone was having some fun with After Effects (probably). Now I’m wondering why I have never done anything like this. Hmm.

Anyway, “Scotty, beam me up!”

Iron Man 3 - Where’s my Super Suit? — Review

4 of 5 stars
Iron Man 3 - Where’s my Super Suit?

Does the suit make the man? This is the fundamental question Tony Stark is asking in Iron Man 3. Well that, and how on earth do you live in the world when you know there are aliens and you were almost killed by them?

You see, Iron Man is a bit of a wreck since the events of New York (see The Avengers). He can’t sleep, he’s obessed with building better and better suits — and he doesn’t know who he is without the suit(s). When his former head of security, Happy Hogan, is seriously injured in a bomb blast by a terrorist known as the Mandarin, he gives his home address to the media and says…

Discuss ‘Iron Man 3’ With Us

Discuss ‘Iron Man 3’ With Us

Don’t forget to join us tonight for the live broadcast of The MovieByte Podcast where we will be discussing Iron Man 3. I’ve been writing my review of the film and I hope to have it up later today before the broadcast tonight. But suffice it to say I enjoyed it. I haven’t heard an opinion yet from Joe so we’ll have to find out tonight when he tells us about it.

We’ll also be discussing a couple of trailers, such as the Ender’s Game trailer, and the White House Down trailer from last week, as well as the trailer music for Man of Steel — like how can you have Superman music in a post-John…

‘Star Trek’ Honest Trailer

‘Star Trek’ Honest Trailer

Well, goodness. While we’re on the subject of Star Trek I might as well post what is quite possibly THE BEST HONEST TRAILER E-V-E-R!

No seriously, for those like me who have a love hate relationship with J.J.‘s 2009 Star Trek film, you’re going to love this. And this honest trailer arrives just in time, seeing how Star Trek into Darkness COMES OUT NEXT WEEK OMG!!!11!!!!!!!1!

Spock Vs. Spock

Spock Vs. Spock

What happens when the old guy and the new guy go toe to toe? This video will show you just that.

This is just about the silliest car ad I’ve seen in a long time, but as a good geek/nerd/Trekie, whatever you want to call me, I enjoyed it immensely.

Plus, you know, Quinto is going to have to get up a lot earlier in the morning than that to beat Spock prime. Despite the silliness, I think this may actually be some of the best advertising I’ve seen in a while.

J.J. Abrams and Simon Pegg Talk about ‘Star Wars’

J.J. Abrams and Simon Pegg Talk about ‘Star Wars’

It has not really been a secret that Abrams is a big Star Wars fan and was never really a fan of Trek. It’s hard to argue with the box office success of his first Trek film, and what looks like the box office success we’re going to see with his second Trek film, but I am still not sure he was ever the right man for the job. Still, I am glad to have Star Trek in almost any form.

And that’s not really the point here. Here, Simon Pegg and J.J. Abrams are talking (mostly) about Star Wars. If you want to nerd out a bit, check this out.

Collected ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Goodies

Collected ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Goodies

I have all sorts of fun Star Trek goodness collected over the weekend and Monday that I was not able to get up yesterday. So here it all is. I’ll just back the truck up to the dock and unload it all here.

One thing is for certain, they’re really cranking out the material and promoting this film like nobody’s business. I don’t remember any Star Trek movie ever getting this kind of promotion. Granted now that I’m running MovieByte I’m paying a little more attention, but I think we can safely say that the amount of promotion going into this exceeds anything we’ve see for Trek before.

First…
