Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Because Iron Man is awesome and he deserves a better film than the travesty that was Iron Man 2. But I think that was just a hiccup in the machine that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I think we’re in smooth sailing territory now. I sure hope so. I want this to be a good film.

And this look good to me. Also, can that guy jump into that Iron Man suit or what? It’s like become a thing with Stark, jumping from heights and getting suited up in the air.

Hacking the Mainframe

Hacking the Mainframe

I love films as much as anybody, but I often get annoyed by how overly unrealistic many things are portrayed. Computers are the worst offenders often. It’s one thing to portray unrealistic things in Sci-Fi, but it’s another to portray them wrong in more real to life scenarios. I especially love all the bleeps and bloops computers made as on screen actors interact with touch screens (that aren’t really touch screens) and the little digital scrolling noises browsers make as they scroll (if my computer really made that noise I would turn it off so fast…).

I realize this is the movies and we…

How Did ‘Identity Thief’ Make So Much Money?

How Did ‘Identity Thief’ Make So Much Money?
Jordan Hoffman - Film.com

At around the same time Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s bill to ban the sale of bathtub-sized containers of soft-drinks rich in high fructose corn syrup was blocked, “Identity Thief” crossed the $120 million mark in box office receipts. Call it a coincidence but we’re reading signs in the (sweet, sweet iced) tea leaves. Our culture is killing itself and asking for seconds.

I like this article except for this opening statement and so I just have to interact with it for a minute. While I don’t drink soda and i do think that our culture is killing itself with stuff like that, and it’s killing…

Watch: ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ Opening Sequence

Watch: ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ Opening Sequence

You may think me crazy, or may think I’m jesting, but one of the most fun parts of Oz the Great and Powerful was the opening title sequence. It was very nice stylistically and was a great way to open up the film.

Now the opening title sequence has been released on YouTube for your viewing pleasure straight from Disney. I suppose this is a way to generate even more interest in the film, but it’s fun for me and you for sure.

Give it a look.

Another ‘Oblivion’ Featurette

Another ‘Oblivion’ Featurette

Awesome stuff here. I can’t wait for this one. And I love that they are doing more things as practical effects than some might do. When possible to do, practical effects, physical set pieces etc. are still better.

The film makes it’s debut on April 19 and stars Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborogh, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Melissa Leo, and is directed by Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.

Star Wars Expose - Luke’s Change: An Inside Job

Star Wars Expose - Luke’s Change: An Inside Job

A documentary expose on why the destruction of the Death Star may have been an inside job. This is completely and absolutely hilarious and so well made. You guys into conspiracy theories may hate this, because it’s kind of making fun of you. But you should get over yourselves and enjoy this because it’s REALLY good. And in my opinion, this is about exactly how these conspiracy theories and exposes work.

A lot of people in the comments on the YouTube video page are going crazy about messing up facts (such as saying Wedge Antilles said, or pronouncing Alderaan, Alderbran), but I think it…

Bryan Singer as Next Star Trek Director?

Bryan Singer as Next Star Trek Director?
Anthony Pascale - TrekMovie

X-Men and Superman Returns director Bryan Singer is a fan of Star Trek and was even involved in a possible pitch for a Star Trek series which was shelved once it was announced JJ Abrams had taken on the task of rebooting Star Trek. Now that there is talk of a Star Trek movie for 2016 and with JJ Abrams set to direct the next Star Wars movie due in 2015 many are assuming that Abrams (while returning to produce) will not be in the director’s chair for the next Trek.

And so when IGN was recently speaking to director Bryan Singer they brought up the issue of Trek. Singer is no stranger to…

Joss Whedon on Kickstarter and ‘Firefly’

Joss Whedon on Kickstarter and ‘Firefly’
Adam B. Vary - BuzzFeed

Practically from the first moment that Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell announced their Kickstarter campaign for Veronica Mars movie — and certainly after the project amassed over $2.5 million in 24 hours — people began wondering if the same could be done for another gone-before-its-time TV series.

Joss Whedon was one of them.

“Yes, obviously, the next thing will be that we will try to Kickstart a Dollhouse reunion,” Whedon tells BuzzFeed.

He’s joking, folks. Whedon — a professed Veronica Mars super-fan — says he knew almost instantly that now that fan-based funding had been proven…

‘Veronica Mars’ Just Changed the Film Business

‘Veronica Mars’ Just Changed the Film Business
Russ Fischer - /Film

Collectively, the fanbase sent a thundering message to studios. It said, loud and clear, that it will give up large sums of money, with no traditional investment ties, to fund a geek-oriented project. There will very likely be further developments in what could be known as the Mars model, with other producers and studios attempting to find similar fundraising success. As the Veronica Mars counter ticked quickly up to $2m, we watched the business change in real time.

This is a smart piece and great read from Russ Fischer and it’s worth taking the time to read. There are both pros and…

Oblivion Featurette

Oblivion Featurette

If you want to learn a little more about Oblivion and possibly some spoilers, this featurette looks like it might be your ticket. There’s definitely some new information here and it brings a little clarity to the plot of the film (which is always muddy in trailers).

This featurette includes director Joseph Kosinski and Tom Cruise as well as previously unseen footage from the film.

Jack Harper is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission…
