“Canceling the Apocalypse” With ‘Pacific Rim’ International TV Spot

“Canceling the Apocalypse” With ‘Pacific Rim’ International TV Spot

Get ready to get your mindless action flick on, because that’s what I expect Pacific Rim to be. Bolstering my opinion in this regard is the 30 second international TV spot that really tells us to expect nothing more than a lot of action and robots and stuff.

This Guillermo del Toro film will open in theaters on July 12, 2013, and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff. I only recognize one name in that list, and he’s not a huge player…

‘The Heat’ - “Good Cop/Bad Cop” Clip

‘The Heat’ - “Good Cop/Bad Cop” Clip

Melissa McCarthy knows how to interrogate a suspect in The Heat. You throw “the book” at him!

This film has the potential to be good, funny, goofy, with a side of character development. But I was burned by the last Melissa McCarthy film I saw (my first introduction to her) so I’m a little gun-shy. But, I often like Sandra Bullock’s films so maybe this will be good. There is the potential. But there’s also so much that could go wrong with this film. The only thing for it is to wait and see.

‘Captain America 2’ and Allegiances for ‘Avengers 2’

‘Captain America 2’ and Allegiances for ‘Avengers 2’
Germain Lussier - /Film

The pair said that the biggest thing they had to do when writing a movie to lead into The Avengers 2 was make sure the character loyalties were in a specific place. They also discussed how writing on Thor: The Dark World was a different experience, how much The Winter Soldier had changed from its initial outline, and how the sequel will put Captain America in a totally new place. Spoiler alert – they really love working with Marvel and want to continue to do so. Read the quotes below.

Here’s a snippet of our conversation.

Lots of good stuff here if you are a comic book movie geek such…

Tony Stark’s House Blowing Up Around Him

Tony Stark’s House Blowing Up Around Him

In this clip which aired during the MTV Awards, Tony’s house is blowing up around him while he tries to use a prototype Iron Man suite that appears not to be quite ready, can’t fly, and more.

This clip is really just an extended look at the full scene already shown in trailers of the house being blown up by missiles and helicopters all around him.

I sure do hope Tony Stark is alright, I hope he survives, what will happen? The suspense is killing me. /sarcasm

In all seriousness, I’m looking forward to this one a lot.

Disney’s ‘Planes’ Sneak Peek

Disney’s ‘Planes’ Sneak Peek

This video tells us almost nothing except that it’s going to be a computer animated extravaganza. Looking at the cast list on IMDb, it looks like Val Kilmer and John Cleese are the two big names that I recognize so there’s that.

John Lasseter is a producer and I love his work so I’m willing to give this thing a chance I suppose. After all, Disney did turn out Wreck-it Ralph which was some very spectactular animated filmmaking, and John Lasseter was behind the scenes on that one too. Still, I’m going to take some convincing that this will be any good.

Planes makes its debut on August 9…

‘Man of Steel’ Spoilers in Latest EW

‘Man of Steel’ Spoilers in Latest EW
Entertainment Weekly

BE WARNED OF SPOILERS. There are SPOILERS for the Man of Steel below.

No Really! You’ve been warned.

This week’s cover story reveals how the new film (out June 14) attempts to humanize the superhuman by finding new flaws and vulnerabilities. The most common one, however, was off the table: “I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie,” says director Zack Snyder (300Watchmen) Those glowing green space rocks – Superman’s only crippling weakness – have turned up so often as a plot point in movies, the only fresh option was not to use it. Anyway, if you want to make an…

‘Now You See Me’ Trailer 2

‘Now You See Me’ Trailer 2

Coming this summer from director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans) comes a film that looks fairly interesting. I’m not really sure where this is going. Is there really magic going on here, is this a completely fanciful world? It’s sure looking that way from here. But I do love the look of this movie and I like this trailer as well as the previous trailer.

The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Melanie Laurent, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Common, Michael Kelly, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman, and releases on May 31.

Synopsis:

Now You…

‘The Lone Ranger’ TV Spot 2

‘The Lone Ranger’ TV Spot 2

Does anyone else have a bad feeling about this film? Maybe it’s just me, and I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it looks like they are making this film simply for the Jonny Depp humor and weirdness factor. And yeah, it will probably be a little bit funny and fun, but I don’t expect there to be a significant amount of plot. Probably just action and funny scenarios for Depp. I hope I’m wrong.

In any event, catch the second TV trailer:

More on Zimmer Scoring ‘Man of Steel’

More on Zimmer Scoring ‘Man of Steel’
Jennifer Vineyard - CNN.com

The secrecy surrounding “Man of Steel,” due June 14, is pretty extraordinary, but composer Hans Zimmer was able to give CNN a glimpse of what to expect when we caught up with him this week regarding the score he did for “The Bible.”

Asked if the two projects had anything in common, since both involve a savior figure (Jesus, Kal-el) sent by his father to Earth, Zimmer laughed and said, “Yes. Yes is the answer. Once you see Superman, you’ll see how close you are with your question.”

Interesting. I’m still waiting to see how this is going to work out. How can you watch anything with…

‘Iron Man 3’ Featurette and TV Spots

Is it May 3 yet? Because I’m ready to see this film. In this Featurette Robert Downey Jr. thinks its the most emotionally satisfying of the three.

I’m still wondering if we’re going to see a beloved character die. I won’t say which, and I hope not. We’ll find out in less than a month!

And some TV Spots.
