February has typically been a dumping ground for not-so-great films. But I want to believe that Kingsman is not a dumping ground film.

In Kingsman, Matthew Vaughn hopes to put a new twist on the super villain and spy flick. If you’re hoping to avoid spoilers, this trailer is probably not for you. But, it’s a comedy flick, so what’s to spoil. I’ll certainly be going to the theater for the laughs, not necessarily the plot. And it certainly looks to be pretty humorous and tongue-in-cheek.

Awww yeah! This is the one we’ve been waiting for. This is why Honest Trailers exists. This one does not disappoint.

While I’m posting old Star Wars videos, here’s a fun one of how the sound designer put together that familiar sound of the Falcon’s hyper drive failing to work. I’d recognize that sound anywhere. I love sound effects and finding out how they are put together. Love it!

Whatever your feelings on John Williams are, I think almost all of us will admit that his work on Star Wars has been the best of his career, and is absolutely magical, as well as vital to the success of the franchise up to this point. Sometimes, I find it hard to spend the time watching these sorts of things, but between the subject being a film that I love, and the composer of that film, and the time period the documentary is set in, I watched from start to finish and could not stop. I may not be a big fan of Peter Jackson’s latest (bloated) triology, but this may be the best interview I’ve seen all year. It reminds me in some ways of that Gollum Acceptance Speach video that Weta Digital did. I love it when they do this sort of thing.

There is so much win this video I’m not even sure what parts to call out. Just watch it.

Critics just hated the first installment in the Divergent series of films. They thought it too formulaic and predictable. I found the film to be okay — yes, occasionally formulaic, but… ahem… diverting.

That said, I think this second film could go either way. In fact I would say this film will either be a good bit better and considerably worse and I’m not sure which yet. The first teaser trailer was not much to go on as it appears to be entirely a dream sequence of Triss’. This trailer gives us a bit more to go on. I think it’s safe to say that this doesn’t look at all like anything Pixar has ever done before — and that’s probably a good thing. While I still have my doubts about this project, I did find this trailer hillarious even if I would find the actual situation, if it were taking place in real life, repulsive. We all wonder sometimes what’s going on in someone else’s brain and this film is going to set out to answer that question in what looks to be a pretty clever and funny way.

And this film is actually just around the corner. It will arrive on June 19th. As always with Pixar, I look forward…

I don’t often post red band trailers on MovieByte, but since I’ve been pretty public here about looking forward to this film and recommending it in a way, I wanted you all to know what you’re getting in to.

I still think the film looks like great fun, and it’s certainly not going to take itself too seriously.

It will be out in theaters on February 13.

Oh man! I nearly split a gut on this one. This just proves that even the best of movies can be made fun of. It is funny the connections that you can make to other Marvel characters, but it’s a sign of how well done it is that I never made the connection before or maybe I just never cared to make the connection.
